Meet Me Halfway

Chapter 10

"WATCH OUT!" Regina screamed.

Emma tried to steer them back onto the correct side of the road but it was too late.

Crash.

Emma passed out. Completely unconscious. Regina also unconscious but woke up nearly 20 minutes after the crash mortified at what she saw.

They slammed into a tractor trailer. They had been flipped and now upside down. Regina couldn't turn her neck because she knew the dangers of it. She picked up her arm and wiped an unknown liquid falling across her eyebrow.

Blood.

There was blood everywhere. She had blood on her thighs and her blouse which was now on the roof of the car considering their upside down. She was in her bra. she then remembered what happened before the crash. She remember why the blonde wasn't paying any attention to the road.

"You're an idiot Regina!" Regina said loudly.

"Screw it." she then turned her head and to her surprise nothing hurt that bad besides her whiplash that was already showing.

"Emma! Emma! EMMA! Wake up! Emma I need you to wake up for me." She was crying bloody murder. "Emma, please I'm so sorry!"

She then took in the sight of the woman.

Emma hung lifeless from the seat. She had blood throughout her blonde hair. She was knocked out, cold. Emma Swan would be the death of Regina. Emma had her arm hanging on the side of the passengers seat. Regina grabbed her wrist and tried to look for a pulse.

She found one but it was very, very slow. Regina saw Emma's phone on the roof of the car. It must have flown out of the blondes jacket when the accident happened.

Regina luckily grabbed it and called for an ambulance. She could barely speak. Emma took the wind right out of her seeing the precious blonde look that way. Regina dropped the phone and looked outside to see nothing but a tractor trailer in front of the yellow car. She couldn't see if anyone was in the vehicle by now but she sure hoped the ambulance would get there faster. She glanced at the phone and two minutes had passed. She grabbed Emma's hand again and began to squeeze, trying to get the blonde to an awake state.

Nothing.

She heard the sirens in the distance and began to thank her lucky stars they were coming. Emma needed to get help. And fast.

"Hello! Is anyone in there?"

Regina heard the firefighters and medical staff outside.

"I'm... I..... Hello? I'm Regina. I'm here with Emma Swan and she needs help really bad!" Regina began to cry again feeling the tears swell up in her mocha eyes.

"Okay Ms. Regina. We are going to start by cutting this door off and getting you out first. We will have another group on Ms. Swan's side getting her out okay!?"

"Okay please work fast!"

And so they did. They got Regina out easily. They got her into an ambulance and did a check on her. She watched as they pulled Emma's torn up body out of the yellow, now bloody red car.

"Emma. Emma, please! Please wake up!" Regina screamed as they put her into an ambulance beside Regina. They quickly drove Emma off and Regina took in another group of people. What were they doing?

They found a man inside the tractor trailer. He was alive but severely hurt as well. He had a broken collar bone and a broken femur. Apparently he was knocked out cold as well. They also took him to the hospital but not as fast as Emma had been rushed, which made the brunette cringe.

"Please take me to the hospital. I need to know what's going on with Emma!" Regina wiped away the tears slowly falling from her face.

Then all at once she felt her head pound and her knee hurt like hell. She had broken her knee and haven't even realized. She also found out that the paramedic on her ambulance had wrapped it to stay in place and also started to pump her full of meds , through an IV.

Once at the hospital, Regina had to go into immediate surgery to fix her knee. She injured it pretty badly when the car hit the pavement upside down.

When she finally woke up from the surgery the doctor came into the room.

"Hello Regina. Are you feeling better?"

"Where's Emma?"

"Oh, she's still in surgery. Do you need more pain pills? You can have more now."

"Uh, yes please."

"Okay I'll have the nurse grab you some but right now I need to talk to you about your injuries. You will need to wear that cast from now on for about 2 months. After that you will need to do a whole heck of a lot of therapy. You will need at least 1 year to recover from that plus your seat beat was wrapped pretty tight around your neck. You will also have a huge scar around your neck from that. You will have to have therapy to move your neck correctly again. You have a huge concussion, but your doing better than I expected with your talking. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. If not here are the brochures for the therapy and how to bathe and all the dates for check-ups. Anyways I have to get back to Emma now. Call the nurse if you need anything."

Regina took everything that the doctor just told her and shoved it. All she cared about was Emma. Emma Swan. The love of her life. She couldn't get the image of the blonde hair and forest eyes out of her brain.

She finally mumbled out an answer.

"Uh yeah okay. Make Emma better."

"I will do my very best and when we're done I'll have her put in your room with you. Also I'll come out and give you check ups."

"Thank you so much."

"No problem."

And like that he was gone. Off to help her friend. Her lover. Her savior.
