Tee woke up with a splitting headache. He slapped his alarm shut and pressed his pillow over his head. He hated the brightness in his room. Uncle Prasert from his orphanage had always preached that for every dark night, there is always a brighter day ahead. But to Tee, brightness was an illusion while darkness was his reality. His bright days had always been followed by deep darkness, to which his eyes and soul had become accustomed to..
Tee's eyes fluttered slowly remembering the kiss from the previous night. He was so immersed into the moment that, for a split second he thought that he saw the light at the end of the tunnel. But Tae's voice had stomped his hope and confined him into the tunnel again. Tee clasped his hands over his ears as the name from the past reverberated into his ears. Beam, the name he had used to con Tae in the past, seemed to echo into his ears from every corner of the room and soft sobs escaped his lips again.
Tee forced himself out of the bed after what seemed like hours, and walked into the bathroom. He splashed water on his face and rested his hands on the bathroom sink, looking at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes were swollen red and his face looked bloated. Tee cursed himself for crying his eyes out since last night. At his line of work, looking cute and beautiful was a must.
Tee huffed in annoyance and started brushing his teeth. He took a long and slow shower, easing his mind and body with the warm water. After relaxing himself, he wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped out of the bathroom. He stood in front of the mirror and observed his face again. He took out the makeup kit which he rarely used, but always kept with him for emergency use. He could just cook up some pathetic stories to Suchart if in case he failed to hide his grief but still, he wasn't ready to take a chance.
When Tee came downstairs, he looked fresh and brisk like always, except the slight red tint in his eyes. He saw Copter in the kitchen, humming happily and cooking breakfast. His heart sank immediately as reality hit him hard. He had spent the whole night crying for himself but he had forgotten to think about what would happen to Copter when all those drama would end.
Tee knew that Copter was getting comfortable with Tae and in no time, the child would grow fond of Tae. Who wouldn't? Tae was a kind and gentle person. He was handsome and charming. Tae had a very pure heart unlike himself, who always thought of ways to betray people. But he was not sure if Tae would be this forgiving if he was not around again. He had double crossed Tae once and all he expected was Tae's hate and anger. But Tae proved it wrong by bringing them home.
'But will he love Copgi like I do? Will he treat Copgi the same way if I am not around? Will he protect Copter like I would do? If... if I leave him with Tae, will Copter lead a normal life like other kids of his age? Will Copter stand strong?', thousands of questions swarmed around Tee's mind.
Tee was not sure of the answers. He had his doubts on Tae since the day he proposed the deal of approaching Suchart and Kimmon in exchange for money in Phuket. He could somewhat understand Tae's intentions of going after Suchart. But he wasn't sure why Tae wanted details on Kimmon's quotation and designs. The Tae he knew was the most righteous man in the world. The Tae he fell for was honest and hard working. There was no way, Tae would try to win a tender bidding through dishonest ways. That was so not his P'Tae. Then why....
Tee pushed aside the gnawing questions and regarded Copter with a steady gaze. He was not going to let his guard down anymore. He would follow the plan and enroute he would try to pull Copter out of this mess.
"Copter...", Tee called in his stern voice.
Copter almost dropped the spatula he was holding in panic. He looked at Tee with large eyes, shocked at the sudden change in Tee's mood.
