A/N: Hallo readers!! RadberryCake here... I'm new to writing and thought i would just give it a try. Please leave your comments and suggestions regarding this book. I'll try my best to update once a week.

"Lilly, get down here right now or we're gonna be late!" Lilly ignored her mom's calls and looked at herself in the mirror one last time. Just an old white t-shirt, a faded pair of blue jeans, some white sneakers and a set of earrings to match her outfit. Her shoulder length hair was tied up in a ponytail.

Just like all typical Indian mothers, Lilly's mother, Ilea was strict about not exposing too much skin.

Lilly went downstairs and saw her mother waiting in the car, drumming her fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. Lilly quickly grabbed her stuff, blew a kiss to her sister and headed out to accompany her mother. Ilea being slightly an overprotective mother, insisted on dropping her daughter off at school everyday. 'Ugh', Lilly thought. Ilea started the engine and they headed off.

"Got your books?"

"Yup"

"Your phone?"

"Yup"

"Your-"

"I got all my stuff, mom!!", she shouted. Lilly had spent 2 hours last night packing her bag with the help of her best friend, Kay on the phone. "You don't have to shout like this, Lilly!", Ilea said glaring at her. "Jeez, mom... Okay...", Lilly reponded.

Lilly was pretty nervous about starting a new year in a new school. She had so much running in her mind that she literally banged her head on the roof of the car when Ilea halted the car in front of her school. "Ma, I'm a bit nervous...", she said. Her mother gave a weak smile. "Lil, it's just your first day in a new school. You've faced worse." Lilly pursed her lips and nodded.

Her father had died four years ago in a car crash. Since then it was Ilea who earned and took care of their family of three. They had recently moved to Herndon two months back, when school hadn't started yet. Still, Lilly had become pretty familiar with the place.

Ilea gave a pat on Lilly's back and waved a bye as she drove out of the parking lot. Lilly took a deep breath and strode towards the entrance of her new school. Crowds of girls and boys were scattered all over the place. Most of them talking, some of them just walking their way into the building, and a few just hanging around.

But there was one group of boys that caught her eye. There were just 6 of them, well, one was a girl. She wore a pink crop top with matching pink short shorts. Aaannnd, she was sticking her tongue in the throat of the boy standing next to her. Lilly almost threw up. 'Who does that in front of everyone?!', she thought. He had black hair which Lilly found a bit attractive. Well all of them had black hair. Sooo, he didn't stand out.

The other four were just laughing and talking except one. He was just standing there not amused by the others. He had on a black flannel buttoned over a black shirt. He wore black trousers and some old basketball shoes(??). The thing she found weird was that he had a dark skin tone. Like the colour of burned wheat.

"Damien, hey!! Earth to Damien!!", said one of the boys. He didn't budge.

He was looking directly at Lilly.

That's when Lilly's breath hitched. His eyes, were black as coal but had specks of silver in them. The colours seemed to shift. 'Is he a vampire?', Lilly thought to herself. They looked deep as if there was something lovable behind his rough self. She wanted to know that side. Lilly was pretty lost into those crystal black orbs until she felt a tap on her back. Damien quickly shifted his gaze.

Lilly turned around to see a girl with blue hair and blue eyes. She wore a black off shoulder crop top, a white tennis skirt amd some black canvas shoes.

"Hey! I'm Lexi!", she said and held out her hand.

"H-hey... I'm Lilly...", she said and took her hand hesitantly.

Lexi smiled.

"New??"

"Yeah"

"Come on, I'll take you to the office."

"It's ok. I'll manage."

Lexi snorted and said, "You're coming with me, hun."

Lilly had no other choice but to follow her. They were inside the school, now. To be honest, it was more crowded inside than outside. Lexi took her to the office where Lilly collected her schedule. They were heading to their first class which they had together. 'Thankfully', she thought.

"Sooo...", Lexi said in an attempt to start a conversation.

Lilly just kept walking.

"Tell me about yourself."

"Well... My house is just two streets away. I live with my mom and sister. She's in kindergarten. My dad's not with us anymore-", Lexi interrupted.

"Oh my god!! Mine too!", she squealed.

Lilly stared at her.

"I mean, my sister's in kindergarten, too.", she exclaimed.

"Oh-ohh, ok", she chuckled.

"Yeah...", Lexi said. "Well... I'm with my step dad and sister. They're really sweet-", she hesitated.

Lilly looked at her. Lexi was about to say something when,

'THUD!!'.

Lilly along with her bag fell to the floor. She tripped over something, someone, to be exact. She landed on her knees, thankfully. She wasn't hurt or anything, again, thank god. Half the people in the corridor were minding their own business, and the other half was watching the scene. 'The first day in a new school, and this has to happen', she thought.

She got up and was shocked to face the boys she had seen outside.

"Back off, Gray.", Lexi said.

He cared less.

"Who's this?? Your friend, Alexa??", asked Gray.

"Yeah, and if you would leave us alone we'll be on our way to class, bitch."

All of them laughed at Lexi except Damien. He was, again, staring at Lilly. She noticed but this time, Lilly wasn't in the mood to stare back. She grabbed Lexi's hand and rushed into the classroom nearby. They both found a place next to each other and sat down.

They looked out to check if the boys were gone and to their luck they were. 'Problem gone.', she thought. That's when she realized that half the class was snickering and looking in her way.

"Shit", she muttered.

"It's alright babe, chill.", said Lexi.

Lilly just looked down and remained quiet.

She was used to being picked on but she didn't expect this would happen. 'Those assholes...', she thought.

Suddenly, she remembered the guy with the black eyes. 'Why did he keep staring at me?! Am I that cute??', she thought and blushed.

"Uhh... Lilly??", Lexi asked with a smirk on her face.

"Uh, nothing."

"Uhh huu"

"You know that boy who we saw outside??"

"What about him?", Lexi asked teasingly.

"He was kinda cute, right?"

"WHAT?? ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT GRAY??"

"OMG Lexi, shut up... I'm not talking about him... I mean the one with the black eyes who kept staring at me."

"Oh, him..."

"Yeah", Lilly said.

She felt attracted to him somehow. His eyes were the thing that caught her.

"Personally, I don't think he's that cute.", said Lexi with disgust.

Lilly looked at her with a bizarre look.

"He's my brother, Lilly."
