"Stay alive for the good times," I sang, dancing around in my kitchen. "Stay alive through the bad."
"You're gonna love me," Zara, my roommate, smiled.
"What did you do?"
"Got us tickets and backstage passes to see Andy."
"Oh my god!" I screamed, jumping on her. "When? Where? How?"
"In three hours," she giggled, "just downtown, and I blew a promoter."
"Oh my god! Wait, you did what?"
"Does it matter? You get to see your idol."
"God, sometimes I love your ballsy ways."
"I know. Go take a shower and I'll pick out my outfit."
As soon as I was showered up, I blow dried and straightened my hair, teasing the back up a bit. I put in my gauges before smudging some black eyeliner on my water lines. I looked to see Zara was wearing red skinnies with a black corset, so I pulled on my zebra print, distressed jeggings and a teal tank top, to go with my newly dyed hair, before putting on my custom Andy Black crop top she made me. I situated all my bracelets and belts before we pulled on our combat boots and took a picture in our standing mirror. We hopped in the car and started blasting Black Veil Brides and Andy Black on a mix I burned onto a CD a while back. Zara rolled down all the windows and we were belting our lungs out. People looked at us weird, but when I was with my bestie, I didn't give a shit.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god," I gasped as we got in the VIP line.
"Are you gonna be okay?" she chuckled.
"I think I might pass out."
"I'm right beside you," she reminded me, holding my hand.
When the doors opened, the line moved into the venue and I squeezed her hand so tight. She smiled and pointed to the opening door where Andy and his band walked out from. I held my breath. He was so fucking perfect, pictures don't do him justice. I swear he looked right at me and smiled, then I realized we were first in line to meet him. I wanted to curl up and leave, but Zara's firm grip pulled me forward to meet him.
"Hi," he smiled.
"Uhm," I stuttered.
"She's a little nervous," Z chuckled.
"Oh, don't be. What's your name?"
"D-Doe. I mean, Shadow but everybody just calls me Doe."
"You're shaking," he replied, concerned. I almost fainted when his warm hand touched my arm. "Don't be nervous. We're all friends here."
"I...I just have to say you're my literal hero. I don't know if I would have made it this far without you."
"Well thank you and thank you for listening to the message I put out and staying alive."
"C-can I have a hug?"
"Yes, of course."
Fuck! He even smelled like an angel. How the hell can this man even exist? I was pulled out of my thoughts as the photographer said they were ready for a picture. Zara stood on one side of him while I stood on the other and I knew I had the biggest, dorkiest smile ever on my face.
"Hey, do you have a backstage pass?" he asked.
"Y-yeah. We both do."
"Cool. Jon!"
"What?"
"Take these girls backstage," I heard him whisper in Jon's ear.
"Dude-"
"Not for that, sicko. Just let them hang out in my dressing room."
I almost lost my shit as we got a personal escort to Andy's dressing room. Jon told us not to take anything and we pinky swore we wouldn't as we sat on the couch. When he closed the door, we grabbed each other's hands and screamed happily, bouncing out of pure joy. Andy returned from the meet and greet and motioned for us to follow him backstage. I had no fucking idea what was going on but I was here for it! The song Stay Alive started to play and I almost cried as it was my favorite song he has ever made.
"Don't wanna go back home tonight," we sang in unison, "So I drive this road alone."
I then noticed Andy was motioning us on stage to dance with him and Zara turned him down, but I was frozen like a statue. He chuckled before coming and grabbing me by the hand and leading me on stage. He was singing into the mic while looking at me, frozen. He smiled, revealing those perfect teeth, and brought me to spin. I looked at the roaring crowd and he turned me to look at him as we both started dancing. I looked back at Zara and silently screamed while she held two thumbs up. When the song came to a close, Andy hugged me again and Zara came to rescue me from the stage.
"Oh my god I have never been so happy about you being easy until now."
"Hey," she giggled.
"You know what I mean."
"Yeah. I might not be so lucky though, the promoter I gave head to is here. Apparently he's their travelling promoter and goes everywhere they do to make sure signs and shit are where they should be."
"Maybe that's why we're back here and got to go to Andy's dressing room?"
"Yeah, probably."
When the concert ended, Andy led me and Zara back to his dressing room with Jon and a big, muscle guy that I assumed was the promoter. We all sat down and started talking about how Zara got those passes but how she's also a skilled photographer. Their photographer had just gone on maternity leave and they didn't have time to find a new one. Apparently, after the promoter talked her up so much, they were ready to sign Z on right away. She had only one condition, I had to go with her. They didn't mind and she signed the contract as soon as they agreed to bring us both on tour.
"You did not just do that!" I gasped.
"Oh yes the fuck I did. Come on, we can go on tour with your idol for FREE!"
"But what if...what if he finds out about the...fanfictions," I whispered.
"Then he finds out and is either weirded out or turned on."
"Zara!"
"What? You're a great author and this could be a way to unblock your writer's block."
"Well..."
"Great, let's go pack!"
