A/N: This is a Kanato x Reader story. This is my first so, please, by all means, critique it to your hearts content. There is some mild swearing contained within this fic. Everything belongs to it's rightful owners. I also apologize for any mistakes and oocness.
It had been almost a year since you had ended up stuck at the Sakamaki household. When you first arrived it was like your own personal hell. Ever since you were a child, you were taught to hate vampires. You had come from a long line of skilled vampire hunters and you were expected to be just as skilled as the rest. However that changed when you refused to kill a vampire. You couldn't rationalize it. The vampire you were meant to kill didn't even kill any humans. Why did it deserve to die? It didn't in your opinion. By refusing to kill what your parents branded the enemy you invoked an ancient curse and were forced to become a creature of the night yourself. After you became a monster you were hunted to the ends of the earth by your own family, until you ripped their hearts out. That was almost 2 years ago. Since then you had tried to pass off as a human and had done so for quite a long time until you were offered as a sacrificial bride. You came to the Sakamaki house and instantly smelled the seven vampires residing there. When you entered you found the residents of the sprawling mansion waiting in the foyer. You assumed that they had smelled you coming. You were right. After weeks of living there you could tell that they were debating if they should kill you or kick you out. You couldn't blame them. You were insubordinate and always fought back. If they wanted blood, you put up a good fight. You made them work for it.
Although you had noticed that the one named Kanato had taken a strange interest in you. At first you brushed it off, assuming he wanted another doll. But when you were eavesdropping on one of their many arguments about what should be done with the 'insubordinate piece of vampire trash' , you heard something shocking. Kanato stomped around and seemed to be throwing a tantrum. You were about to walk away, rolling your eyes at the blood sucker's childishness, when you heard him stop and say in the most bloodcurdling, menacing voice you had ever heard,
"She stays with me. If any of you touch her ever again, I will end you."
You looked at the door in shock. Something told you that he wasn't referring to Yui.
That was almost six months ago. After the incident you noticed a difference in Kanato's behavior. He followed you around more and frequently growled at his brothers when they got close to you. His mood swings seemed rather violent lately and they were only remedied by your presence. He even allowed you to hold Teddy once. Over the course of three months you had become used to these behaviors and you weren't as annoyed when Yui would ask you to calm him down or when Reiji would tell you to 'Get your useless ass in here and fix this.'
Although just as you had gotten used to these odd habits he developed new ones. He had started sneaking into your room and watching you sleep. When you asked him about it he said he needed to 'keep his y/n-chan safe.' After dealing with this strange development for weeks you gave him some options.
"Listen Kanato, you can either stop staring at me with that creepy-ass smile on your face and say something or get the hell out of my room because you're starting to give me a bad case of the creeps."
"Teddy? I don't think y/n-chan likes us anymore. Why don't you like us anymore y/n? We like you? Do you want me to go die. Your'e just like everyone else, aren't you?..", He continued on with the speech you had heard a million times.
"For the love of God, Kanato. I didn't say any of that. Hell, I didn't even imply any of that. Will you please just stop ranting for a freaking moment!", you shouted when you realized that he wasnt going to stop.
After a few moments Kanato registered what you had said and fell silent. You silently praised yourself on your skills.
" All I wanted to tell you was that I am uncomfortable with the silence in this room. And you should be asleep. We both have school tonight..", you said calmly to the now calm Kanato.
"Me and Teddy want to sleep in here with y/n-chan!"
"Oh Hell.", you muttered under your breath. You were about to refuse when you saw the hopeful look on his terrifying, shota-like face. "Fine.", you sighed. You moved to the edge of the bed to make room for his slender frame..He laid Teddy on his left side and had curled up to you on his right. He put his hand on your waist and whipered, "You're mine.", in your ear. You told him that he was yours in return. You were both soon lulled to sleep by the dead silence in the room.
Kanato repeated this behavior for weeks. He would enter your room, throw a small tantrum, then fall asleep beside you. It also became a common occurrence for you to sneak out in the day and come back before Kanato woke. You had come to accept the fact that you were his and in turn you became possessive of him. When others would tease him you would be one of the first at their throats. When his brothers would even so much as glance at your neck, Kanato would be by your side. You knew that this relationship was unhealthy, but it was the only sort of affection that you had gotten since you invoked that age old curse and slaughtered your loved ones. Perhaps this affection was also a bit unconventional but you weren't exactly complaining. It was nice to know that someone in this mad world of ours has your back. You were reflecting over all of this while doing what you had been doing every night for awhile now. You looked at his sweet sleeping face beside yours, watching for any signs of awakening. When you saw none, you pressed a small kiss to his forehead and silently slipped out of bed. You stepped over to the window and hopped down, looking back at the window after you landed. Your attention was redirected to the sun to check the time. You figured that you had about 3 hours before you should head back to your room. While you were strolling to your favorite place you remembered the time Kanato had awoken before you returned.
You were sitting in the tree that hung over the graveyard when you heard it. A loud piercing scream reached your ears and you cringed. You hopped down from the tree and saw Reiji sprinting towards you. He was pinching the bridge of his nose and muttering under his breath. Even with your heightened hearing, you could only pick out a few words, 'Kanato' and 'Before he hurts himself.'
Your eyes widened to the size of saucers. Almost immediately you ran back to the mansion, hearing Kanato's frustrated shouts.
"WHERE IS SHE?", he screamed as you entered. You saw hime flipping over furniture and letting out ferocious growls.
"Kanato!", you shouted over the ruckus he was making. He turned to look at you and he rushed toward you, pulling you into a bone crushing hug.
"Don't ever leave me again, y/n.", he growled into your ear. You lifted him up and carried him back to your room. "Why did you leave me y/n? I thought you cared about me? I care about you. I'm never going to leave your side now. You're mine.", he whispered the last part into your ear as you nudged your door open with your foot. When you entered, you noticed the overturned furniture and sighed. Reiji would make you clean this. You went to set Kanato down on the bed, But you were unable to because of his arms tightening around your neck. You sighed again and laid down while holding him. he quickly fell asleep with his arms wrapped around your neck. You pressed a small kiss to his temple and whispered,
"And you are mine."
You were brought out of your memory by the change in your surroundings. You looked around seeing that you had come to the cemetary. You quickly climbed into the tree and sat on a low restinf branch. You stared down at the graves and smiled at the cliche situation. A vampire in a graveyard. How many times has that been done. You sighed happily and leaned back against the branch. after awhile the stillness lulled you into a deep sleep.
You woke a few hours later and jumped form shock. You saw that the moon was already rising and you would have hopped from the branch and ran if you hadn't noticed the extra weight in your lap. You turned your head slghtly and smiled at the sight. Kanato was straddling you and had his face buried in your neck. He felt you stirring and pressed a genle kiss to the side of your neck, saying,
"Shush. Go back to sleep."
You tried to protest, saying, "Reiji will wake us up soon anyways."
You felt him smile against your neck. "Not if he enjoys his eternal existence."
You hugged him closer and sweetly whispered, "You're mine Kanato."
"And you are mine."
As you were falling asleep you smiled again, knowing that you had both just proffesed your love in your own little way. With your mind full of happy thoughts, you fell asleep again.
Extended ending:
Reiji sighed, looking at the two of you. He was about to shake the tree in an attempt to wake the two of you when he saw Kanato's murderous stare.
"Wake her and I will have another Teddy to play with."
