Walking through the gates of school is like walking into hell. 'Everyone says that' yeah I know, but it's true. plus, it's like 100 degrees and I'm stuck in a black dress that ends mid thigh with a leather jacket on top and my white converse. My brown hair was pin straight and cascaded down my back stopping just under my rib cage. My smokey eye literally felt like smoke, partly because I got the eyes shadow and my eyeliner in my eye. I loved wearing dark colours on my eyes because they made my green eyes pop. I was a little nervous for today because my parents had left for a 2 week vacation right on the first day of school, well it's not really the first day of school. Its the first day for me but for others it was right in the middle of the year. meaning I was the 'new girl' so obviously I had to dress presentable to avoid getting bullied. The whole reason we moved to this dumb place called Overview Hills was because of my brother, Tate. He got bullied at our old school mostly because he's a freshman. Luckily I got away my freshman year and now I'm blessed to be a sophomore with a little more power in the school. Not that it matters, I couldn't throw a punch for my life, but I was 5'3 and 100 pounds of attitude, sarcasm and if looks could kill I would be in prison. Tate was shuffling beside me obviously bummed about having to go to school and risk getting bullied again except this time he would have me to help him. It was my goal to protect him for the rest of the year. I can't stand another 4 months of him coming home late with bruises and cuts all over his body saying, 'It's from lacrosse.' I said goodbye to my brother once he got to his locker and then set out to find mine, D223. Asking around, people said it was on the third floor. This high school was huge i'm surprised there isn't more reports of missing children. I looked around for locker numbers, C65..C87..C90. No D's. I'm about to turn around thinking someone pranked me when I was knocked to the floor luckily landing on my bag and silently thanking the lord above for remembering to wear shorts under my dress. I stood back up, not so elegantly and nearly tripped again, catching myself and then finally standing up fully. Now to look for the asshat who pushed me. He was looking right at me, by looking at me I mean he was laughing at me. His tall, tan figure shaking as he gulps for air. I look down thinking that maybe I did forget to put shorts on, but they where there hidden neatly under the black fabric. Ignoring the dark haired boy who I decided if I ever encountered again I would call brownie, I pulled out my schedule. I didn't think I had much time to get to my locker by now so I might as well go to my first class. I felt a grip around my small waist and quickly turned back around, face to face with brownie. Well like 5 inches under his face. I stood on my tip toes and was now level or even taller than him. Time to turn on the sassy Ezra everyone knows and loves.
"Do you need something?" I made myself look completely pissed and pulled out my phone to "check the time." He put his hands on my shoulders and pushed down so that I was flat footed again.
"I was going to ask if you needed help getting to your next class, you look a little lost and...new?" He raised his eyebrow and I scoffed.
"I am not lost." putting my hands on my hips, I tapped my foot, "I need to get to class." I was ready to storm off in the other direction but was held back. Brownie snatched my schedule out of my hand.
"You're class is on the first floor, why are you on the third?"
"My lockers up here" I replied quickly.
"You're lockers on the second floor. We have a messed up system with letters everywhere. I get that you're confused-" I cut him off.
"I'm not confused. I meant to say my friends locker is up here." I was a pretty good lier and could hold a great poker face, but he seemed to see right through it.
"Listen Brownie-" We both spoke at once. I jumped back and quickly grabbed my schedule.
"Get out of my head." with that I turned on one heel and walked towards the stairs earning looks from everyone.
Today was going to suck.
