Her left hand combed through the dark hair of the head which rested on her lap. Her other hand tingled as the young boy played with her fingers, tracing the small lines on her smooth skin. Addison let herself be eased by his touch and had distracted her mind easily with gentle tugs on the thick strands. But the peace was short-lived.
"I'm sorry." A female voice cut through the silence like a knife and pounded through her skull.
Addy's fingers had now been entangled with her own locks as she frantically clawed at her scalp in an attempt to ease the itch behind her skull. "It hurts!" The small girl cried out in pain and squeezed her brown eyes shut as her head began to throb.
"365" Thomas' voice echoed in her head over and over again until it had faded out into a steady beat.
Every thump that pounded her skull had progressively gotten louder and louder until the world around her had simultaneously turned into flashes of darkness. Adds had finally recognized the rhythm to be a blaring alarm that pierced her ears. When her eyes finally adjusted, she gasped in fear of the enclosed space. The brunette was in a metal cage- trapped between boxes- with no idea how she had gotten there in the first place. Her face had paled to match the nausea created from her turned stomach. She forced down the bile and stood on her shaky legs. Her throat had become raw from her cries for help, and her fingers were bloodied from punching and scratching at the walls like a rabid animal. It wasn't long before the cage jolted upward with an even greater force, which had knocked the girl into the boxes behind her on the floor.
Addison's back scraped the concrete as she was being dragged along the maze corridors at high speed. Her screams echoed before they distorted and blended with the familiar screeches of the Grievers. Her hands clawed desperately to be set free by the beast. The stone moved around her as she turned corner after corner until she eventually was sent into darkness.
"Wicked is good." A voice had echoed in her skull, an unclear image of some kind of technology screen sent a blue glow around the face of a small boy and a young blue-eyed girl.
The electrical hue had changed almost instantly into that of a searing white light that hung above her. Addy tilted her head to the side with tears in her eyes, arms tugging at her restraints. A gloved hand pulled out a needle and drew purple liquid from a jar. They squeezed it lightly to release some air. She pleaded, her screams seemingly going unheard by the mysterious doctor.
Addison inhaled sharply as she lifted her head in a jolt of surprise. Her hazel orbes darted every which way for an agonizing moment before she had sighed in relief at the discovery that she was still tucked safely away in her hammock. Her mind had still been racing, so she shook it slightly before she had pushed her body upward.
The girl gasped when Chuck crossed her vision, "Morning shankette."
Addy took a breath before giving the boy a small smile. Chuck had moved a bit closer, which had let the sun's white beaming rays blind her. Through squinted eyes the girl had realised just how intense the heat had oddly been compared to when she usually awoke.
"What time is it?" The mapper croaked, her throat dry.
"Breakfast started a long while ago." At the girl's alarmed face he added, "Don't worry, today Fry made up some of the good stuff and I came to make sure you didn't miss it."
"Thanks chuck." She laughed slightly at his enthusiasm. The girl threw her legs over the cot and stretched them, allowing the tension in her joints to be relieved slightly.
