Wynter's POV

Growing up, I was never really into any dangerous activities unlike my twin. I preferred to stay in my room and learn how to code, rather than going to hunt with Dad and Tallis. At this very moment, I wish I had learnt how to fight, how to fire a gun, or how to handle myself in dangerous situations.

I just witnessed a murder.

I just watched someone get murdered in front of me.

Mario drops dead on the ground. No one besides me blinks at the dead man less than 3 metres away from us. Patrick continues to speak as if he hadn't just took someone's life.

"Care to translate for me darling. I can barely hear a word he says" Patrick is not asking. He is commanding me to. I gather what's left of me and push every negative feelings into a box so I can deal with the situation at hand.

"Alright now. You're the best chance I have at finding this Key so you will tell me everything you know about it or I will hurt this pretty young lady right over here" Tallis agrees, not being able to breathe at the thought of someone hurting me at his expense.

"Where is project-5247?" he asks.

Tallis says he doesn't know and I take a deep breath as I prepare to repeat what he said.

"He doesn't know" I tell Patrick.

"Wrong answer" he nods to the man behind me and that's when I feel both of my arms being held by muscle man as I do my best to evade their hold.

Tallis quickly elaborates his answer and I repeat everything from here on out "He says once he saw the bounty, he stopped searching but he can tell you what he found before that"

"I'm listening"

Tallis tells me everything he knows about this. If this was any other situation I would have laughed at how he was speaking gibberish, no wonder Patrick can't hear him, but unfortunately it is what it is. His life depends on what I tell him.

"The government deleted all files on their projects so he knew he had to start getting creative. He started looking at the last whereabout of every single scientist before they had gone missing. He kept on digging until he found that they all knew each other"

"They had all met at some event hosted by some important person, he couldn't find out who that was so he started digging even deeper" I pause as Tallis tells me more. This interaction has me churning but the determination on his face is reflected on mine.

"Turns out that the organisers - of whatever that event there was - were all highly important government officials, ranging from mayor of New York to the director of the FBI. That's when he found out that they were apart of something bigger, a secret organisation, but he couldn't find out what the name the organisation is"

Tallis take some time to pause from speaking again as his mouth hurts, but Patrick doesn't wait and punches him in the gut, telling him to carry on "No need to punch him he will tell you!" I scream, but my plea is ignored. My heart keeps on breaking into a million pieces as he, painfully, tells me all that he knows.

"The officials  all had one thing in common, they all wore a jacket with a symbol. The symbol had the Earth as the embroidery. In the center, was a knight - the chess symbol. The knights holding 2 swords shaped as an X in front of it" This is the first time that I'm hearing of this interesting information.

"He says that's when he stopped looking" I finish up retelling the story.

"I don't believe that's all you know Tallis, you can give me a little more than that" Patrick nods to a man who repeatedly starts punching Tallis. I shout for to him to stop as I can barely watch. I twist in the hold of the man behind me, punch him in the throat and he lets me go.
