1780, A Winter's Ball
She had turned 23 a few months ago, and, if we're being honest, she was just grateful to have lived past 20. Even with all her money, people were dying left and right of diseases.
She wished to just continue reading her book, but, nonetheless, she had a Ball to get ready for. She sighed, placing her bookmark inside her book, placing it back on the shelf. She got out her most Winter-appropriate and fancy dress she could find without too much searching, and got changed.
It was a struggle to do by herself, but she did not wish to bother any of the maids. Nor her sisters, as they had to get dressed as well, of course. And obviously the butlers or her father could not help her, that would be extremely scandalous, and people did like to talk in New York City.
She decided to put on her matching pair of jewelry; a ring and a necklace.
She had gotten these from her mother on her 18th birthday, just as her mother had, and she wore them almost everywhere.
