an attack at dark

Marnie smiled as the wind blew through her long pigtails, longer than they were when she got the title of Spikemuth gym leader from her brother. Piers was focusing on his music career. Marnie kept up his legacy of not dynamaxing, though her Grimmsnarl was gigantamax. outside of her building-like down was where she loved walking the most. well, also swimming...but she herself doesn't swim. you get the point. 

though, the water at night was even more freezing at night, like one drop and you have frostbite. Marnie called a flying taxi to take her to the outside of Glimwood Tangle. she may love the outside of her hometown, but the area leading up to her good friend's gym was the most beautiful in Galar.

Marnie sat on a  bush as she waited. when the taxi came and dropped her off, she took a deep inhale. the air was so nice in Glimwood Tangle. it was a beautiful night out. she sang a slow song her brother made for her as she walked around the glowing shrooms. she wore the jacket she wore during her gym challenge. she loved that jacket and it still fit, never let a good jacket go to waste. "the cheers I'm senden' to you mean too m'ch th'n you get" she sung the lyrics. she knew them all by heart. the full moon mixed with the glowing mushrooms were beautiful. little did she know the crazies came out of the full moon.

Morpeko sniffed around, it was hiding in her pocket. Morpeko loved hiding in its trainer's pocket. "you 'kay?" Marnie asked her pokemon, who seemed bothered. it was giving a protective glare behind her. but Marnie saw no one there. "'peko, it's fine, there's no one 'ere" Marnie giggled, taking the small pokemon from her pocket and hugging it close with a smile. no matter what Marnie said, her pokemon seemed protective.

a rustle was heard behind a tree and Morpeko let out a mad squeak. "it's probably an Impidimp, 'peko..." Marnie sighed, hugging the small hamster-like pokemon close. usually, that's what it was, along with any other pokemon she came across. Impidimp were tricksters, so they were probably trying to scare her.

then it happened...

a sharp pain was felt in Marnie's thigh. then another on her other calf. she screamed as she saw a stab wound in both. she was bleeding a lot. she fell, it hurt to stand, it hurt to fall. Morpeko bit the man hard. she recognized him.  that gym challenge earlier in the year (the winner had lost to Victor) there was a challenger that had lost to her, that was the guy. there was something off about him but damn. she sent out Grimmsnarl, though she couldn't speak. the pokemon restrained the man as Marnie heard footsteps approaching. she forced out a scream saying "HELP!", the scream didn't even sound like her. Marnie was usually softspoken even when she's trying to yell. but she couldn't be quiet at the moment. 

"Marnie!?" a familiar male voice yelled to her. her friend Bede. he was a bit of an egomaniac when they met, still is but not that bad. but they were friends since they met. "holy shit!" Bede yelled as he saw all the blood on her legs. all Marnie heard the words over Bede's phone, "911 what's your emergency?" before everything went black.
