Marinette panicked as she ran through the streets of Japan Adrien next to her with a female hit on their trail. Them, Alya and nino had gotten sloppy up, but that didn't stop the wretched woman from chasing her and Adrien. Adrien some how got in front in her and yanked her into and alley way holding a hand to her mouth pulling her more against him. She felt her tears create a water fall down her face. Just a few hours ago they were telling ghost stories and laughing around with each other, Adriens dad had so graciously let her, Alya, and nino stay with Adrien at the hotel on his business trip. So Adrien being her long time crush she agreed, but she never thought this would be happening, and it all started with a stupid ghost story!
*A Few Hours Earlier....•
"Ok, ok! Chill out!" Alya said as they all laughed and giggled over something Nino had joked about "ok, ok! Who's going first?" She said pulling out a flash light and turning off the lights. Marinette shook her head, Currently she and Adrien were sitting on the girls bed and Alya and Nino on the boys bed next to the window.
Adrien raised his hand and nino rolled his eyes shaking his head "No Dude! You suck at being Scary!" Alya paused her boyfriend mid sentence "give the boy a chance, Babe" she said handing the flashlight over to the blonde model
Adrien took it and glared at nino, "yeah dude listen to your girl friend!" Adrien said mocking the tan boy, Marinette giggled and nodded agreeing with her best friend, "yeah nino, Alyas right give Adrien a chance" Alya nodded "yes nino, we are giving pretty boy here a chance, and there's nothing you can do about it" she said tapping ninos nose as she said beside him as she looked at adiren.
Adrien smiled looking between the three teenagers. "One day day a boy was having fun with his parents, they were walking around and suddenly the boys mother disappeared! The end!" He said before screaming like a girl. Alya and nino looked at each other confused, marinette slapped a hand to her fore head. "Never mind nino you were right, model boy here, is never telling stories again, here Alya" she said taking the flash light from the attractive blonde and handing it over to the girl with glasses.
Adrien frowned "I can be scary!" He huffed out like a child. Nino laughed and nodded "oh yes, because your life story is so terrifying" nino said sarcastically. "Oh whatever! I'll show all of you! I can be scary!" Alya nodde "oh yes! But till then hush up it's my turn, she said before turning of the flashlight making the shadows on her face pop out more making fine looking dark marks on all the edges that poked out of her face.
"Once back in the 17th century Japan there was lady, Kuchisake-onna" began before being cut off my Marinette "wait you mean this happened here?!" She asks a bit distraught, Marinette had always been the scared my cat of the group. Alya glared at her for interrupting "yes, Now shush!" She squad tapping the end of The Bluenettes nose.
"A woman lived in a more dark part of town then one we are in" Alya began again "According to legend, Kuchisake-onna was a woman who was mutilated during her life, with her mouth being slit from ear to ear. In some versions of the story, Kuchisake-onna was the adulterous wife or concubine of a samurai during her life. As punishment for her infidelity, her husband sliced the corners of her mouth from ear to ear. Other versions of the tale include that her mouth was mutilated during a medical or dental procedure, that she was mutilated by a woman who was jealous of her beauty, or that her mouth is filled with numerous sharp teeth." Alya said as she looked around at the terrified teens with a malicious smirk on her face as they all trembled
"After her death, the woman returned as a vengeful spirit, or onryō. As an onryō, she covers her mouth with a cloth mask (often specified as a surgical mask), or in some iterations, a hand fan or handkerchief. She also carries a sharp instrument with her, which has been described as a knife, a machete, a scythe, or a large pair of scissors. She is said to ask potential victims if they think she is attractive, often phrased as "Watashi, kirei?" (which translates to "Am I pretty?" or "Am I beautiful?"). If the person answers "no", she will kill the person with her weapon, and if the person answers "yes", she will reveal her mutilated mouth. She then repeats her question (or asks "Kore demo?", which translates to "Even with this?" or "Even now?") and if the person responds with "no" or screams in fright, she will kill the person with her weapon. If the response is "yes", she will slice the corners of the person's mouth from ear to ear, resembling her own disfigurement." She said finishing her story.
Every one sat in an eerie silence that no one dared to break, Mari was the first to speak! "W-well" she stammered out "a-at least it was b-be-better than Adriens" she managed to get through chattering teeth. She smiled sweetly at the blonde model who just sent a firm glare her way. Nino continued to stay in fearful silence. Alya smiled content with her self as she hoped over to her and Marinettes bed pushing Adrien off before turning the light off, causeing both boys to squeal like pigs and jump into each other's arms. Alya raised an eyebrow as she turned on the light before bursting out with laughter, "Awe Look Mari our boys are cuddling !" She said pulling out her phone to take a picture, with the flash on, causing Nino to drop the trembling adrien and rub his eyes. Alya sighed and rolled her eyes before turning off the light again. She sighed with a shake of her head and laid down "Good Night Boys" she said as she herd soft snores coming from marinette before they all drifted of to sleep their selves
*End of Flash Back*
Marionette was crying she felt the tears falling down her face quickly. When she opened her eyes she was frightened by seeing, HER. The lady looked like she was smiling behind the mask "am I pretty?" She asked holding up her scissors. Marinette didn't say anything, Adrien was no longer behind her so she slid down the wall "I said, AM I PRETTY?!" She screamed in a distorted voice, when Mari did answer again she took of the mask to reveal her slit mouthed. It was like the joker smile, but it was permanently cut into her face. Marinette pulled her knees to her chest and put her face in her knees. The lady laughed as she pulled marinettes face up. Marinette furrowed her eyebrows 'she sounds familiar' she thought. The lady brought her scissors closer, and closer,
and closer,
and closer,
and closer,
until.....
"i think that's enough now Natalie..."
the lady with the slits let marinette go as she stepped back, as a blonde boy stepped out of the shadows and Alya came rushing out as well and hugged marinette helping her up. "Wh-what's happening?" Marinette said through her sniffly tears. Alya laughed as she looked over at adrien and nino, and the lady. "Seems we were wrong about model boy not being scary" Alya said rubbing maris arm to calm her down. "Well then who is she?" Mari asked.
The lady pulled of the strands of Halloween make up for the slits and pulled the veil off her head revealing a red streak in her hair before pulling out glasses and putting them on. She bowed to the young bluenette with an apologetic smile "I am terribly sorry for frightening you, but me.Agreste here said he had a plan. Seeing as its so close to Halloween, and it's my job. I went along with it" she apologized. Marinette looked over at adrien as she wiped her face and calmed down, she furrowed her eyebrows "you thought of this whole thing?" She asked, the boy just nodded "sorry Mari" he said with a small smile. The girl chuckled and shook her head "yeah what ever let's just go, I'm exhausted" she said as she began to walk back to their hotel. The friends fallowed behind as they all laughed about what had just Happened. They all silently vowed to never go to Japan at night again.
