a dangerous chemical has leaked from the lab and got into the water on the small island of (island name tbd) causing people who drink this water to become infected and into a zombie like state, an important politician and poor girl go through a journey during which they fall in love. however, due to his importance the politician has a chance to get on a helicopter to safety. he isn't allowed to bring anyone else due to fear of them being infected. he must decide between leaving his newfound lover or staying there with her. he decides to stay with her and gets word that the government are sending in a nuclear bomb to destroy this island and everyone on it. this would destroy the virus too, making it unable to spread to anywhere else in the world. the button is pressed and the nuke heads for the island. the two lovers embrace, realising its their final minutes on earth. they know they will be together in the afterlife though and this is a comforting fact. however, as the bomb is dropped, we find out that an outbreak had happened on the mainland and that blowing up the island with the two lovers on was all for nothing as the world was already doomed.
