The Lonely Night

Like every other night, I was in bed, thinking about how every other girl in highschool is getting ready for the 'best night of their lives'. I wish it didn't exist, I hoped that something would happen and the ball would be canceled. This happened every year on the same night. I wasn't going to find my mate, end of story.

Every year there was a ball for all the juniors. They would all find their mates and live happily ever after. Not me, the disappointment of an Alphas daughter. I was 19 and still going to the ball only knowing that I'll never find my 'special one'. Sighing I got up and put on my dress, it was laced in the back and I had to have one of the omegas help me put it on.

It really made my figure look better but even then I could only be filled with dread and sadness. I watched her as my waist grew smaller with each tug, making my boobs and hips look bigger then they really were. I sat down and had the omega do my hair, pulling it up into a braided bun. It looked like a flower in my opinion. Looking at myself in the mirror, seeing my eyes. One ice blue while the other is emerald green

Then I put on white heels to match the turquoise dress. The heels made me look four inches taller then I actually was. I had troubles walking down the long hallway. I saw my younger sister and she smiled, one more year until she goes to hell, I mean the ball. My mom and dad didn't even say 'good bye' or 'good luck sweetie' like they did for the first three years.

Walking out the door and seeing the driver, I bite the inside of my lip while walking towards it. Opening the door and sitting down the driver gave me his usual smile and said "Welcome back, Lilly Fuller. Long time no see?" He joked and I forced a smile. He found his mate earlier then most at the lucky age of thirteen.

Upon arriving I took a large breath, walking into the big room. Seeing more then the usual amount of highschoolers. I realized that I didn't recognize some of them, some of them even looked older as well. I looked up at the stage where the queen and king of best pair get crowned. There was the principle standing there, waiting for someone I guessed.

After a few minutes passed and students started to get annoyed. The man started his speech. "Welcome one and all, tonight if you didn't notice there are other highschools from far and wide. They came here to find their one and only, to find their other half-" i stopped listening and went to find a seat to go and read.

As I sat down the principle finished his little speech and decided to start up the music. Everyone started walking around and dance, one by one everyone started finding their mates. I sighed as I started to read, until the scent hit me like a wave, pine needles. I looked around, trying to find the source to that wonderful scent that filled my senses with happiness.

As I looked around I finally locked my eyes with him. Tall, muscular, dark brown hair with grey eyes. Damn, he was a meal and a whole snack, how did I not notice him before? He started to walk towards me. I panicked and ran, running in heels are a accident waiting to happen. I slipped and saw the ground coming to meet me.
