Golf Ball sat at her desk. Letting out a sigh, she rested her forehead on the edge of the desk.
"I... I uhhhh... I think I... really like you..."
"I- I don't feel the same." She blurted out. She immediately felt guilty as soon as she saw the look on his face.
Golf Ball squeezed her eyes shut. It's not like she can control how she feels... but she felt guilty. I was too blunt. I should've let him down nicely. I could've done something better! I don't know... She opened her eyes and sat up in her chair. She looked at the picture frame on her desk. Her and Tennis Ball together. Happy and smiling.
Golf Ball pushed herself away from the desk on her rolling chair and growled in frustration. She had never thought about romance before, not even with Coiny's teasing. It just... never crossed her mind. She never thought she'd have to, either, but here she is worrying about some stupid confession! Why am I worrying so much about it?? I said we could stay friends and he was fine with it! Golf Ball, staring at the ceiling, gave it a deep scowl.
I'll just go work on blueprints! Yeah! That'll ease my nerves. Golf Ball jumped out of her chair and walked into the main lab. Tennis Ball was there. Of course. He glanced at her quickly before turning away. It happened days ago yet no one knew how to feel or act. Golf Ball took a deep breath and walked up to her work table. She glanced over at the mess of papers. Picking one out, she snatched it from under the mess of other papers. Grabbing a pencil and hopping onto her work stool, she just stared at the blueprint. She tapped her pencil against the table, looking over it. She didn't comprehend what was on it at all. Why why why! In a fit of anger she threw everything off the table. Only when she heard a quiet gasp did she realize Tennis Ball was standing awkwardly next to her. She sighed and looked at him.
"What's wrong?"
"Well I um," he stuttered "I just. I'm sorry for making everything awkward between us! I'm gonna try to fix it."
"No, it's fine, it's not just your fault it's mine too." Golf Ball placed her pencil down on the table and sat criss cross on the stool facing Tennis Ball. "I'm sorry for... being too blunt and just contributing to the awkwardness."
"You don't have to apologize!!" Tennis Ball pleaded.
"I should and that's that."
Tennis Ball looked like he wanted to argue but kept quiet. "So what now?"
"We resume our normal friendship. Duh."
"Oh... alright!" Tennis Ball smiled if only a little.
And that was that. At least, that's what Golf Ball thought.
