Raven sat on the woven chair in the corner of the dimly lit hut, twiddling her hands trying to come to terms, or just trying to understand what just happened. She looked up at the man who saved her from committing a terrible act, something totally against her nature, or so she thought.
"Raven, i am sorry for the welcome you had, but there lots of things you have not been told, there is a reason that you reacted that way", lord Samuel now sitting down opposite Raven.
"What things have I not been told, please tell me what is happening?, desperation echoed through the room.
"Raven, I can not tell you as I made a promise to your mother that I would never speak of it, promises are bound by blood as you know, so even though I want to tell you I can not," Lord Samuel mulled over his thoughts on how he could help her.
"The journey you are on Raven, is a dangerous one, you need to know that the truth you will discover might be something you will not return from, I will gift you this dragonfly which will stay with you and alert you when danger is close," Lord Samuel opened his hand and from there fluttered out a dragonfly that gracefully settled upon Ravens shoulder.
"I will also let two of my young soldiers accompany you, please don't let your guard down," Lord Samuel then told one of the creepers to go and get Oriel and Diego, his two young soldiers.
Creepers were very unusual creatures, they were half wolf half human with no emotion. They thrived off serving their masters, one thing though, they could be insidious in the wrong hands.
As Raven sat there drinking her lavender infused cup of water, in walked Oriel and Diego.
"Hi Raven, I'm Oriel and this is Diego", Oriel pointed to Diego, a tall, awkward looking boy but he seemed polite, just a little shy.
Oriel sat down beside Raven, with her long stark white hair that seemed to shock her eyes as it was so bright. Oriel was beautiful, but also a very gifted Sabler, the name of their race, the same race as Ravens kind.
Diego was also very gifted and they were both ready for a journey of their lifetime, they both had no mother or father, they were brought to Mortal as orphans after their village was destroyed by Dailoz. So they had been brought up in the magic wonder within the village, a massive building used for orphans, magic was a daily lesson for them, same as all the other orphans, without parents orphans needed intense magic lessons everyday so they could face any evil they would encounter as adults.
"You best be on your way, cross the Fare Bridge before sunrise, the shadow seekers will be lurking there as soon as the sun rises,"Lord Samuel turned and walked away, leaving Raven, Oriel and Diego.
"Best be on our way then," Oriel spoke the obvious.
Walking through the village, which was now silent, Raven started to doubt herself, and felt a bit uneasy with Oriel and Diego, even though they seemed friendly, Raven was the type to fight her battles alone but little did she know, this was a battle that was near enough impossible alone. Making their way through an abandoned village which was once home to other Sablers, but now overgrown and lonely, the three of them stopped in their tracks, a faint sound of footsteps caught their attention. The dragonfly upon Raven's shoulder started to flutter its wings frantically, and the glow of light dimmed that surrounded the dragonfly.
"Quickly, lets get behind this hut, be quiet", Diego whispered.
They all huddled behind the hut, trying to breath as quietly as possible.
Raven's eyes scanned her surroundings constantly, her adrenaline making its way around her bloodstream.
"Come with me dear", a whisper echoed through her ear, Raven turned around as the hairs stood up on her neck.
In front of her was a tall woman-like figure, a black dress, eyes just a white canvas with no pupil, the woman-like figure was whispering but her lips did not move.
"RUN," Diego and Oriel shouted as they all ran to the other end of the village and hid in one of the many huts.
"What was that"? Raven asked as she had never seen one of these.
"Ladies of the night, souls of the ancient witch coven, they possess you and live within you, they are scary things and not something you want to be caught by, that's how my mother died", Oriel now breathing very fast, as she tried to calm down.
Diego peered out the corner of the window to see if they had gone.
"There're more ladies of the night appearing, we need to get out of here",Diego informed urgently, while still looking out the window.
Raven stepped towards the door to see if there was a way out without being seen by the ladie's of the night, as she looked around the corner she was face to face with a lady of the night who looked deep into Raven's eyes,
"Raven do not look into her eyes!" Diego said with a loud whisper as he glanced at Oriel who was shaking with fear.
It was to late, Raven seemed to go into a trance, the lady of the night wrapped her arms around Raven and led her out of the hut, Ladie's of the night gathered around, slowly entering Raven's body, Diego ran out to help Raven but could not get close as the magic force field was to strong to pass.
"RAVEN!!!," Diego shouted, desperately trying to get through the force field.
Raven was terrified inside her own mind, but could not move or speak, she could feel her body being taken over, while she was being pushed far away, then visions started appearing. The vision of a baby being held over a bowl of blood, drops of blood were given to the baby while by standers cried, the baby wailed, then, a familiar face walked over to the ritual and took the baby in her arms and wiped the blood away.
"now give me my baby and leave me alone" the woman said as she left the room.
The vision came to an abrupt end, as she looked around, Oriel and Diego were leaning over her.
"are you o.k Raven?" Oriel asked as she stroked Raven's head.
"i'm o.k, where have they gone, what happened?", Raven looked around as the sun had started to rise.
"well the Ladie's of the night possesed you, but something spooked them, never seen that happen before", Diego baffled how they had been spooked like that and the fact Raven didn't die.
"i just had a really weird dream or vision, that's all i really remember", Raven for some reason didn't want to tell them what the dream was, as the baby in her dream was herself, and the woman was her mother.
