Chapter 14:
I was on my way to the Astronomy Tower when someone suddenly pulls my arm into a classroom. I look up at my captor and immediately relax when I find out who it is."Merlin's beard Remus! You scared me!" I look at the professor as I calm myself.
"You're going to have to start calling me Lupin if you don't want to get caught. Most students don't call their professors by their first name."
"Ugh that's going to take some getting used to. Sirius would always refer to you as Remus or Moony."
"Just be careful. Now, are you making progress?" Remus breaks off a piece of chocolate and hands it to me. I take it gratefully.
"Yes I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm on my way to study with him right now. Could I get going? I don't wanna be late." I glance up at his clock. 6:10. I was already late.
"Okay go ahead. Remember, the goal is to have him trust you. The more he trusts you, the less chaotic this whole situation will be." I nod in response and head out of his classroom. I rush up the stairs to the Astronomy tower and swing the door open. Harry is already sitting at a table he had set up and looks up when he hears the door open.
"Hey I'm so sorry I'm late," I set my bag down and slide into the seat across from him. "Re- um Lupin stopped me on my way here to talk about an assignment."
"It's okay! Shall we get started?" I nod and Harry starts to flip through his notes and ask questions about the ingredients and instructions. The third years had a quiz tomorrow and needed to be prepared. Towards the end of our study session, I begin to tell him some of the things that are going to be on the quiz and help him out with what he needs to know. I had helped Snape make the quiz since I was his assistant.
"Make sure that you only share this information with Hermione and Ron though, okay? I don't want to get in trouble." Harry nods eagerly as he finishes his notes on his parchment.
"So, how have classes been for you? Have you met any new people?"
"Classes have been alright, they're pretty easy to me. As for new people, not really. I mean I guess Cedric counts but he's not really new."
"Oh you hang out with Cedric?" Harry says with a glum tone. Why was everyone so invested with who I hung out with? Specifically the guys.
"We haven't hung out yet but he wants to. We've only talked a couple times."
"Oh okay," He looked relieved. "So," Harry rests his arms on the table and leans forward. "How did you get so good at potions?" I laugh.
"I don't know. I've always really liked it since 1st year. And Snape was also decently nice to me for some reason. He obviously favors slytherins." I fiddle with my green tie. "What about you? What's your favorite subject?"
"I love Defense Against the Dark Arts. I personally think it's the most useful. I mean, it helped me a lot last year."
"With the whole Chamber of Secrets thing right?" Harry nods. "I heard about that, not much but I've definitely heard about it. You always come and save the day don't you?" Harry stifles a laugh.
"Not really, most of it is just luck."
"Well you're pretty lucky." We both look at each other in silence, but not an awkward silence. More of a peaceful silence.
