"Are you feeling better?" Hiccup asked hopefully.

"Yes, thank you.." Merida set her fork down indicating she was done eating.

"Everything was really extraordinary good. Mrs. Pots has out done herself again." Merida quickly changed the subject, not wanted him to ask any further.

"Yeah your right."

Silence fell upon them, both didn't know how to approach the next topic or question.

"I-I think the others are waiting at the ball room...we should start heading there." Hiccup rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"Ok." Merida got up and Hiccup walked towards her. Both of them walked the empty low lit hallway neither speaking.

"Ahem"

Merida turn to look at Hiccup, getting her attention.

"I-I hope you"re enjoying yourself so far."

"I actually am."

Before Hiccup can saw anything else they arrived at the two big doors leading to the massive ball room.
Hiccup open the door as he let Merida in. At first glance Merida awed at the room, such elegance it gave off. Ivory and marble at each wall and floor. Open windows surrounding the room letting the moon shine it's romantic light through. In the middle of the ceiling a big chandelier hanged.

"Everything is so elegant."

"My servants did have a reason to clean this time." Hiccup chuckled but admitted that he missed seeing the ball room like this again.

"I'm sorry for intruding lad but we are ready to start the concert I have prepared for tonight." Lumiere spoke out as he bowed before them.

"Right, we'll take a seat then."

They headed to two thrones established in the left middle wall. Merida assumed it was were the king and queen used to sit when they had royal gatherings. She felt somewhat uneasy, if wearing the queen's crown wasn't enough to make her uncomfortable. She took a glance at Hiccup to see he had the same look on his face. She was about to comment when she heard the enchanted piano play off the first melody. The music was very relaxing and enjoyable, Lumiere really knew how to bring out the concert especially with enchanted instruments.

Through out the rest of the night they enjoyed the music, making conversation along the way and at some point Mrs. Potts brought in dessert and some tea.

"Yes my wee brothers are the troublemakers of the town."

"That's really amusing to hear." Hiccup chuckled, Merida following along.

Hiccup eyes fell on Lumiere as the little candle man tried to get his attention. Hiccup raised his eyebrow confused. Lumiere mentioned him to grab the lass and guide her to the floor then did a mini waltz, indicating him to dance with Merida. Hiccup eyes then fell on the lass who was busy taking a bite of her dessert. He suddenly became nervous and turned to look at Lumiere for guidance.

Lumiere just motion him to just go for it, giving a clap and cheer gesture for support. Hiccup took a breath and stood up, facing Merida. She looked at him surprised.

"Wou-would you care to join me for a dance?"
Hiccup extended his hands in front of her, hoping she would take it.

Merida looked at his outstretched hand and gulp as silently as she could. At that moment she regretted not taking her mom's dancing lessons seriously.

Merida took his hand and held it as they walked towards the middle of the room. Every step they took echoed the empty cold room, Merida shivered at the sound.

Without warning Hiccup shifted their hands in a more tightly intertwined position and for a moment he hesitated before placing his other hand in the back of her lower waist. It caught her off guard that she flinched a little, her cheeks becoming a slightly shade of red. Hiccup acted as if he didn't notice, instead turn to look at Lumiere, giving him a nod.

Not waiting any further Lumiere started the music. At first it was a very slow pace, Merida stepping on Hiccup's foot here and there, earning him an apology and a Merida cursing under her breath. She really wished she had paid attention.

"Let yourself go, I'll guide you." Hiccup softly spoke in her ear.

It gave Merida goosebumps, his breath being so close to her skin. She could only nod to his request. And he was right he guided her swiftly and elegantly that you couldn't tell she didn't know how to dance.

A few seconds passed and the music translated to a more sweet slowly melody. Hiccup immediately recognized the music. His memories flooded in but he quickly shoved them back not wanting to ruin this night for her or for everyone. He took a breath and started to guide her to the rhythm.

Merida looked at Hiccup noticing a sadden look plaster in his face. She quite knew why and all she could do was squeeze his hand in reassurance. His attention went to her and they both stared at one another the melody finally embracing them. Merida's breath hitched as his eyes looked at her own. She wanted him to forget his past but she knew that was impossible but she would make him look towards the future and let him know he wasn't alone anymore as of today, tomorrow....tonight.
