it's funny how obsessed humans are with the idea of vampires. the ridiculous horror stories parents tell their kids before tucking them into their blankets. the alienated picture movies and books paint is nothing but hilarious to adora. well, alienated may be the wrong word. actually she finds it quite fascinating how many things humans know about vampires even though they think their existence isn't real. but obviously they're wrong. very very wrong. vampires live just among them. they work with them, they go to school with them, they eat, sleep and talk with them. over time the few vampires who still exist developed some beneficial coping mechanisms to suppress the hunger for blood. and no, animal blood isn't one of it. stupid edward cullen who made people think they would actually drink something so disgusting. to be honest, adora may has tried it. or else she wouldn't know it's disgusting. i know, you're wondering "how do they cope with the ongoing thirst then?" and i will tell you, it's brilliant. their ancestors trained them to satisfy both their brain and body with their own blood. no external resources needed. like i said, brilliant. right?
and there's one more thing, movies completely messed up. vampires do NOT exist forever. ones existence can't be just infinite. that's not possible. they do age very slow. it takes them many hundred years to actually grow old.
since vampires are a extraordinary intelligent species, they were capable of complex medical surgery. due to many eye surgeries they could replace the situation-depending eye color with a normal, human one. unlike the vampires humans imagine, they had black eyes in day to day life. extreme thirst for blood turned them white, unendurable pain caused a deep grey color and the feeling of sexual tension and irresistible lust made them red. the surgeries could fix every color change except for the red eyes. it wasn't possible. not even the best surgeon could do it.
that's probably the reason why vampires tend to avoid other vampires. the natural force to propagate spins its dirty threads and they fall in love easier than with a human being. they can also sense each other. so, if they sense another vampire before moving or before working somewhere, most certainly they will be gone faster than you can say "but-"
this time there wasn't any other vampire. "finally", adora thought. she wanted to move away from this shitty little town she lived in but there were always another one of her kind. but not this time. she is the only vampire in this part of los angeles.
at least that's what she thought.
she liked it here. the area was alive and full of people during the day but deadly silent at night. she likes to stroll around the streets. oh and there's one more misconception about vampires: they DO sleep. even though two hours per day are more than enough.

this night started of just like every other night. it was 1am and after her daily nap adora put on some black clothes and went outside. at first she had no real destination but then she decided to grab a chai latte at the 24/7 store. their chai latte is actually really good. not as sweet as the one from starbucks which was good, but also not as spicy.
normally she's the only one the in the store. while going to the coffee section she saw a black shadow in the corner of her eye and at the same time and felt something weird. something she's never felt before. it was almost as when there's another vampire around but that's not what it was. she couldn't define this abstract thing so adora decided to grab her chai latte and follow the black shadow. where did it go? over there!! at the cashier! turns out the black shadow was just a human. in disappointment adora sighed which made the human turn around and it hit her like a truck. it was a girl. but not just some girl. it was the most beautiful girl she's ever seen. blonde, long, wavy hair shines under her black hood. soft, plump  lips; a small, boopable nose; freckles on her rosy cheeks and big, caramel brown eyes looking straight at her.
while the only thing adora could whisper was "wow", the beautiful girl who looked more like an angel than a human just said "oh", turned around and rushed out of the store. the only think adora thought about now, was following the angel girl. the cashier yelled "ma'am your chai latte!!!" but she didn't even hear it.
it was easy to follow her because adora was able to sense her for some reason. even though she was sure the girl isn't a vampire. it's different. she is different.
