When my grandmother died, I have known the true identity of my mom. My grandmother's sister told me that my mom and aunt are adopted and they are really daughters of their other sister.
"No you're lying, it can't be. She will never be my grandma for mine is dead."
"But that is the truth so respect and love her just like your dead lola."
"Nobody can replace my nana, no one."
My nana, that's how I call my lola, she's the the most important person in my life and I love her so much. I can't accept what I'm hearing, I ran away and hid in my room while sobbing. It can't be true, my nana loved us like we were her own.
"Mom is it true."
"Yes it is but it doesn't matter for since the beginning I always felt that your nana is my real mom but it doesn't mean that you should act like a brat in front of your real lola. She may not be the same like your nana but still she's your grandmother.
I don't know what to say so I just asked my mom to tell me the story.
My true grandmother then was working in Manila as a helper in a well-off couple. The woman was much older than her husband which cause problem in child bearing. I don't know what happen but my grandmother and her boss had a secret relationship and my mother was born. The couple wanted to take my mom away and migrate to the States thus my other lola decided to hide my mom in the province.
Despite everything, I guess my true grandmother felt real love, for the second time around she returned in Manila and worked again to the same household. History repeats again for my grandmother got pregnant again thus my aunt was born. My aunt was baptised and she used my real grandfather's surname but then again the couple decided to take my aunt again so my aunt and mom was brought home in the province. They were adopted by my true grandmom's sister and his husband who had difficulty in having a kid.
My mom and aunt were loved like how parents love their own despite being adopted. We were not rich then but both of them were brought up in a good way and became successful.
My mom and aunt were blessed, lucky and very much fulfilled. Life was never easy for them but they survived. At first, I can't believe what my lola was saying but my mom told me everything. I once asked my mom if she ever wanted to meet her real father and she said know for she's already happy and she feels complete. My mom has her reasons but as a granddaughter, I want to meet my real grandpa, know his family for nothing matters in this world but family and I want to meet them all.
I don't have any idea about his where abouts but I hope and pray that somebody I will be given the chance to know him and hope it won't be the end.
Life doesn't always seems the way our naked eyes percieve it for somewhere deep is a hidden secret.
