★--------STEPHANIE COULDN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THAT NIGHT, it was the only thing on her mind. The events kept playing in her mind, like a movie on loop. Her and James barely talked since that night, they were extremely awkward and of course her friends noticed it. Stephanie tried her best to distance herself from him so it wouldn't be awkward but of course they had potions, and unfortunately that was the class she sat right next to him.
Stephanie walked into the class as her eyes darted to him, he was awfully quiet. She waved bye to the girls as they sat next to their partners, Stephanie sighs as she slowly walked towards him.
"Hey." She said quietly as she placed her books on the table then slid the stool so she could sit.
James jumped up slightly from her voice since it's been so long since she actually spoke to him, he turned to her. "Hey." He said gently, normally the pair would be the loudest in the class but the two were the quietest. Even the class noticed the tension between the two.
"Merlin, you would need a knife to cut this tension." Sirius whispered to no one in particular, both James and Stephanie turned around in sync to look at the boy as they glared at him.
"I love you both." He smiled awkwardly, Stephanie rolled her eyes and turned back to the front once she heard the sounds of Slughorn's shoes clacking against the floor.
"Hello Class, today we will be learning amortentia." Slughorn announced, everyone groaned.
"Now, Now. Class, don't worry we will not be making the potions today." He said making it sound better, even though it wasn't.
"Now everyone pull out your parchment and let's begin." Stephanie sighed as she slowly pulled out her parchment and ink, she saw James do the same thing almost spilling his ink but was able to steady it.
"Now, does anyone know what an amortentia is?" Slughorn asked, the whole class kept quiet except Lily who was already jumping out of her chair ready to be picked. Slughorn scanned over Lily, making her wave her arm vigorously to catch his attention.
"Ms.Rose, do you know the answer?"
She looked up from her parchment,"Amortentia is the most powerful love potion, it causes a powerful infatuation or obsession from the person who drinks it. The person under the effect of the potion will only hold an obsession for the person who made it. It has a different aroma for everyone who smells it, reminding each person of the things that they find most attractive, even if the person doesn't acknowledge or is unaware of their fondness for the object of their affection themselves." Stephanie explains.
"Perfectly said Ms.Rose, 5 points to Gryffindor." He clapped as he walked around the class.
"Now, we will not be making the potion until later in the year. I wanted you guys to be familiar with it." Slughorn began to explain our upcoming assignment we will be having about three different potions including amortentia.
The class was finally finished, Stephanie picked up her book as she saw James waiting next to her.
"Hey, Rose." Stephanie looked up and her eyes were met with his hazel eyes, Stephanie quickly looked away and stared at her shoes.
She looked up at him and saw hesitation in his eyes, he opened his mouth to say something but closed again. But then opened it again,"I was wondering if you could help me plan a date for Lily and I." She looked at him surprised as she felt her heart drop down.
"Yeah, of course." She said quietly, she still hasn't figured out her feelings. She knew she didn't like him like that, she kept telling her that it was heat in the moment but her reaction to everything told her differently.
Stephanie wasn't the only person whose heart dropped when she said yes.
James's face twisted into a force smile as he engulfed her in a hug, James was nervous that she wouldn't hug him back but when he felt her arms around him, all his nervousness melted away. They stood there for a good minute, the smell of James's cinnamon and wooden smell and Stephanie's Peaches perfume was the only thing they were able to smell.
