It was a normal Sunday and my friends and I decided to play at Hailey's house. We are consisted of 3 girls and 2 boys. Jenna, Hailey, Sam, Gio,and me.
"Ashley, what do you want to become when you grow up?" Hailey ask as we dig holes on their backyard
"I'd love to be a doctor. Like my mom!" I exclaimed, getting excited about what we could do
"How about you guys?" I asked the others
"I like to be a pilot. So I can fly around the world." Gino said
Sam raised his hand and excitedly said he wants to be a chef so he could cook whatever we want and eat delicious foods together.
"Let me be your maids then 'cause I don't like to study anymore." Jenna said and we all laughed
We were just around 10 that time. Full of ambitions, dreams and hope, that a bright future is ahead of us.
As time flew fast, we started going separate ways to reach that dreams and hold on to our promises. That we would make sure to spend time together at least once a month. That we will all be present at each other's greatest achievements and that we will never forget the days we felt at peace just sitting there under the tree, playing and talking about random stuff.
As I am waiting for them at a restaurant, I started to space out and think about all those fond memories. And I'm happy that we got to fulfill some of those. Not all, but some.
Jenna came first, with a beautiful baby on her arms. Then came Gio, who is looking magnificent in his pilot uniform. Sam came from the kitchen and served our foods. And as we look at each others eyes, the warmth and bond is there. Together with the unshed tears from the broken dreams.
We lost Hailey. Even before we got to achieve our dreams. Little did we know that the time she asked us our dreams, was the last time we'll ever be with her.
We were young then, and though she may not be with us anymore, she still lives on our hearts and dreams.
"At some point in your childhood, you and your friends went outside to play together for the last time, and nobody knew it."
