The alarm clock on the black nightstand read 4:03 am. Zayn stared at it blankly. He coulnd't sleep, not that he didn't try, because he has kept his eyes shut for around an hour but he couldn't turn off his thoughts. He suddenly felt the urge to get up and run. Leave. Run away. He didn't wanna be thinking about this, this way. He didn't want his thoughts to all be centred around him. His heart crushed a little at this thought and he just closed his eyes, stopping the tears from falling all across his face. He didn't want to cry. Not here. Not now. He was supposed to be sleeping. He was supposed to be dreaming, eyes shut, mind peaceful. But he couldn't. All he could do is feel the pain inside smashing throught his heart like a billion arrows. God, how stupid. He was stupid for letting any of this happen. He knew it would eventually hurt. He knew it would eventually kill him. He knew it all along but he couldn't help it. Really. Nobody can stop themselves from falling. It just happens. And it just happened. Even though it shouldn't have. It just wasn't right, no matter how happy he was with him, no matter how fast his heart beats whenever he catches his eyes. His green eyes. Zayn sighed heavily, a tear streaming down his cheek. It was all too much. He suddenly sit on the bed, trying so bad not to wake the other boy up who was snorting a bit in his deep sleep. He looked at him for a second, questioning himself about wether he still wanted to leave. He was really beautiful, unconscious, curls all over the pillow case. He looked away, cursing the day they met, putting a leather jacket on his bare skin and picking his black skinny jeans from the ground, ready to go. But just as he was about to stand up, a hand brushed his back lazily and grabbed his own stopping him.

" Stay." Harry mumbled, squeezing Zayn's hand a bit. Sleep and alcohool making his voice sound  deeper and slightly rasp.

So Zayn lied back down silently. He didn't want to have to argue on why he wanted to leave. He could still feel the tears at corner of his eyes and he thanked God the lights were off because explaining why he was crying would have been complicated and he would have to lie. So he chose to stay. Mainly because he didn't have the energy to find a good excuse to leave but also because he didn't have the guts to give up on Harry knowing how much he needed him there.

Harry had been out clubbing just like every night since they went on break. The tour was now over for a week and the three other boys had left the USA to go home. But Harry stayed. LA was cooler, he told Zayn. Gemma and his mom would come next week so there was no reason to fly back to England. Zayn stayed as well, but for different reasons. His so-called girlfriend and her band were releasing their new Album so he had serious advertising to do, including promotion tweets, planned dates, long walks for everyone to see, selfies at VIP parties that she would post and so on. He had to work even on their annual break and that made him feel disgusted. When he fisrt met Perrie, he never thought she would be the reason he would hate his life. Perrie was nice. She was pretty, really. She was just not his type and he never thought he would be forced to date her. He had to, management made it clear. The girls band was new, it needed publicity so they picked Zayn. He was the best match because 1/ Louis and Liam were taken. 2/ fans would go crazy if Harry dated someone. 3/ Niall looked too young for her. Of course at first he didn't worry much, what could be so wrong about it ? It was just a few dates with a hot chick in order to bring the spotlights on her band. He was even going to get paid for it. Little did he know that this fake relationship would be turned into an engagement just a year later because the game was too obvious for everyone so management figured a ring would solve it.
