Your pov:

I sat the small teacup that rested between my fingers aside, flipping the next page of my my book. I'm a regular at this bookshop, for it has a small cafe inside.
At first it seemed absurd to me, books and tea? Great apart, but when together- a possible mongrel of a messy disaster. Although, once I tried it, I haven't been able to stop.

Usually my thoughts were sort of chaotic. After all, my job was thinking, was it not?
In the higher archy of the criminal justice world, there are few that rank above all else. I rested in the middle of these ranks. As a leading detective for the task force in Tokyo, it was my duty to think. Analyze.
Reading books tore me from this reality and instead filled the chaos with harmony and scripted thought, to which I enjoyed.

My phone began to buzz on the glass table it was resting on, picking it up to answer, I'm met with the voice of Matsuda, the most inexperienced boy on our task force. His voice was shaky as he mentioned a figure named 'L', who apparently went by 'Ryuzaki', only to the public.
He gave me a quick run down of why I needed to come by the HQ, and why it was essential I took a rest from my tea to meet this strange 'L' person. With a sigh, though, I agreed.

After about 30 minutes of rushing through traffic and dropping the 3 books I had jumbled into my hands, while pushing up my glasses all at the same time, I made it. Through the doors some of the younger aspiring task force members obtained my books, carrying them along with me as I rushed through the halls.
Matsuda had told me to meet in the 3rd room, of the 3rd floor, at the 3rd minute of the hour.

Once the minute hand hit that '03', I clocked through the heavy metal doors.
The only person in the room was a man. Crouched into a metal seat- well, more like pirched, a white tee to contrast his ebony locks, and no shoes. How disgusting.
Throwing on a smile, I reached forward to the man. He didn't hold his hand out, so I scoffed and sat across from the figure.

His eyes were wide when staring at me, as if I looked like him.

"You must be L?" I began, shifting my papers around. He nodded once.
My lips opened, then immediately closed when an employee pressed the intercom.
"Miss (L/N), your library is at full capacity. We will start extension immediately."

I internally rolled my eyes.
L shifted out of his position and into a normal stance, his elbows on the counter. "Miss (L/N), you run this place?" He asked, looking around the room. "I do in fact."
His eyebrows furrowed. "You also like books, I presume." Once more I nodded to him.

"L, you seem very shy. At least very weary if not that. You can trust me. I want to know you. My subordinate hadn't said much before I came rushing." I spoke softly out to him, trying to reassure this wasn't a bad situation.
He nodded. "You're much more straight forward than your employees. You're also- different."

My ears rang against the word. Different could mean one of two things, yet both side to the same coin. Was he patronizing me?
My thoughts were protruded when he spoke once more. "You're an over thinker. I like that." He then pulled what looked like a piece of candy from his pocket, popping it into his mouth, then pocketing the wrapper.

"I wish I could say I wasn't." I worded hastily. He then came closer to the table, eyeing me directly.
"(Y/N) (L/N), director of the task force. You specialize in Psychology, specifically you double majored in it. Then, you retook the course in the form of Law. You're a very smart woman. You're also very proficient in many types of hand to hand combat, as your profile reads, top of the class."

He spoke words of reality to me as I watched his eyes light up, knowing he was right. A blush throated me, he called me smart. No one ever did that.
I coughed a bit and looked up to him, smirking.

"L Lawliet, alias- Ryuzaki. You're a diagnosed insomniac, with mentions of mania. You've come through your assist here to approach the case of Kira. You like sweets and refuse to talk a lot of the time, being quite secretive. So, why did you chose to talk to me?" I retaliated back to him, the same monotone in my voice as his. He smirked to me.

"You lied, you said you knew nothing about me." He said, coldly.
"I said I wasn't told much about you by Matsuda, not that I hadn't a clue who you are." My words were cunning as I put on a mask of comfort to this man. He saw right through it, but simply bit his thumb.

"You're one hell of a woman, that's for sure." He spoke, how could he be so bold? I could never imagine so.
"You didn't answer my question- why are you talking to me, when you're known for being secretive?"

He paused for a moment, looking over to the wall, as if to imagine something. Then he peered back to me, turning his head.
"Well if I'm being completely honest your file intrigued me. I read up on the few people I would have to come in contact with to do my job here, and yours caught my eye," He began, opposing me.
"-A 22 year old woman with 2 degrees, a higher status in the justice field, and you're considered widely to be a loner. You reminded me of, well, me."

My eyes widened watching him actually open up about something. The strategist in my wanted to know the game he was playing at, but if we were in a game- my queen was in check.
I darted my eyes away from him, shooing his endless stream of praise toward me.

"L Lawliet, are you flirting with me?" I spoke, my hand slapping against the metal table, then peering up to meet the dark circles that rested beneath his eyes.

He grinned.
"-And she's got good intuition." He left that hint for me, which I easily solved like a first year puzzle piece. I crossed my legs and sat back, now watching him bite his thumb once more.

"I'm not normally a straight-forward person. Particularly I'm looking for someone to make it easier for me to sleep at night, and when I read your file, I slept. I actually did that night. Aside from Kira, you encouraged me here." His bluntness struck me while I tried to remain composed, still making eye contact with him.

"Well, L, perhaps you may get to know me."
