Mum and Dad always fought.
Out, out in the sun is where I'd go.
Fake smiles, fake laughs,
Why couldn't they be happy?
Was it me?
Was I not good enough?

As I get older,
I think back on what I use to say;
"I'll never be like them."
But I guess I was too young to know what I was saying.

Look at me now,
Are y'all proud of your precious child?
Was I what you wanted?
Was I what you expected?
Are you proud of me for who I am?

As I get older,

I turned thirteen and I started to fight back.
Got a toung and mind of my own.
We shouted, we argued,
But nothing could take away the pain of knowing that I was not loved by my own dad.
