Strider landed on one of the rocks, it felt jagged under his talons and he wished he hadn't had landed so hard on the rough edges.

"Yow!" He yelped lifting one talon up from the ground quickly to reveal an open cut across his palm. He had to have landed on the sharpest rock here, since usually the rocks weren't that sharp.

He felt a little oblivious now, considering he hadn't seen that from the air. But then again, he had been a little too focussed on the sky, to see if Scorch would magically appear out from the clouds.

He heard little fast tapping noises that were a little unsettling. It was probably the noises of lizards who obviously had heard him.

He tried to ignore the cut and continue walking quietly along the rocks. He could still feel the stinging pain as he laid his talon on the ground, so he kept it up to lower the pain.

What am I doing? This is nothing compared to the injuries of wounded soldiers.

He had a quick flash of memory of the soldiers who had the terrible wounds that he had seen every now and then. Legs lost, an ear completely teered through, a large impossible-to-not-notice open cut going along their neck.

He shuddered a little bit. He still kind of wondered what he would be when he was actually old enough, a soldier? A baker? An advisor? He wasn't sure, but honestly he couldn't choose one thing to put his life on. He wanted to do so many things that couldn't be put into one job. It was kind of frustrating.

His thoughts were interrupted as he heard the fast tapping again. It was coming from a large crack in one of the rocks.

He waited a few seconds, to focus to make sure it was most definitely coming from the large crack and not from the small one on the rock he was standing on.

He hoped it was lizards and not some other small animal, because he had told Dad he would go hunting for lizards, not undersized snakes.

Then, he felt weird for a second, as if someone was watching him. He couldn't tell very well, but it felt like something was breathing into his ear from a few inches away.

Then he nearly jumped as he heard a small little rock roll over towards him while skipping slightly along the ground.

He glanced at the rock and then swiveled his head toward where it had came from. It was a large rock just big enough for a dragon to hide behind. It looked weird though, as if somebody had deliberately set it there with awkward balance by itself. But it kind of seemed impossible to balance a rock that big though.

Somebody is watching me. I know it.

He quietly moved across the rock, getting as close as he could to the large rock. Then he quickly moved his head around the rock, stretching his neck.

He was actually about to say 'I  caught you!' or something dumb like that and felt a little relieved he hadn't. He had expected to see someone, but nobody had been there to his surprise.

He was about to feel a little sad nobody was there, but then again, that was probably a good thing. After all, if someone had been watching him, would they have killed him if he had caught them?

Now he just felt even more uncomfortable. Thanks a lot rocks.

He slowly went back to the large rock he had been on before, and started peering into the cracks for lizards.

Then he heard the quick tapping noise of tiny lizard feet again, this time it was coming from the rock he had been at before.

I've got you now foolish lizards! Or lizard.

He quickly and quietly moved over to the large, dark grey rock, looking for cracks a lizard could be hiding in.

He spotted a crack on the right of the rock and peered inside. He saw a little orange lizard with big green eyes and felt a little pride as he saw it.

But then, as he was about to snatch the lizard from the rock, the large rock leaned towards him quickly and heavily. He already knew as he looked up at an angle that he was about to get crushed by the humungous rock.
