The Notebook

The train bell rang announcing the next station. Jungkook perked up and stretched his neck to look out for the passengers that was about to come in through the train doors.

He smiled to himself. Like clockwork, there you were. Taking the same train carriage on your way to work.

He didn't know when it started. Before he realized it, he has been looking forward to his daily commute from work because of you. Yes, "from" work. In the midst of all the freshly bathe normal people who was just about to start their day to work or school, here he is about to end his.

Though he has numerously requested to be on the normal working hours, he has been assigned to the night shift team of the local radio station. Not that it matters anymore, he currently doesn't have a life anyway. His long-term girlfriend left him a few months back and he hasn't been himself ever since then. But that was over and done. Going back to you entering the train, you sat on your usual spot. Starting off by flipping through your notebook.

He found you interesting. Out of all the people that he watches during his daily train ride, you somehow stood out. Yes, like them, you are just about to start your day, but the dark shadows around your eyes says otherwise. During the past days that he has been observing you, you always have that little notebook on your hands. On some days, you are reading it or scribbling something on it. However, most of the times, you doze off to sleep.

Jungkook chuckled a bit as he remembered one time where you casually missed your stop because you weren't able to wake up on time.

He wonders what made you so tired at night to make you this way. Do you have a night job like him? Do you binge watch movies or series instead of sleeping? Or is it that you can't sleep because you're drowning in your thoughts? A noisy neighbor perhaps? He feels he'll never know.

Like one of those days, you dozed off today on your seat, only waking up to the announcement that the train has arrived to your stop. You scrambled your bag and raced towards the door that was about to close. You didn't notice that your notebook fell on your way out but Jungkook saw it and stepped quickly towards your empty seat, grabbed it and walked towards the exit. However, he was a second too late. He was faced with the closed doors, beyond which he only saw a glimpse of your back as you walked away. He sighed to himself and looked at the familiar notebook now in his hands.

"Shoot!", you exclaimed as you browse through the mess inside your bag.

"What is it?", Joon, your friend asked as he saw your panicked look.

"It's not here." You mumbled. "...my notebook."

It's now Joon's face that is filled with worry. He knows how much you cherish that notebook. You love writing poems and short stories and though you weren't able to get a job as a writer, you still write for yourself. And that notebook stores all those things you want to write. Those late-night thoughts and words that you wanted to express. Joon has read a few and thinks you're very talented but you're too shy to have it read by anyone else.

"Where did you last have it out?" He asked.

You thought for a second and remembered, "at the train."

Joon's eyes lightened up, "There should be a Lost and Found box there. You can take a look when you go back. I can come with you if you like." He said.

You found a little hope from what he said, "Thank you Joon. It's okay. I'll just check it out when I go home later."

It was already late when you finished work and saw that there is a Lost and Found office in the train station, but it was already closed. You sighed and went home, trying your best to console yourself by saying that it should be there. When you checked the next day, you were greeted by an intimidating man, with cat-like eyes and very pale skin who was manning the Lost and Found booth.

"uhmm... excuse me."

He eyed you and raised a brow as if asking 'what'dya want?'

"I left a notebook from the train yesterday and I would just like to ask if someone has found it?"

He tapped on the huge box that was on the table as if telling you to 'look for it yourself'.

You cleared your throat and browsed through the box. It took a while but as soon as you reached the bottom of the box, you sighed as it didn't have what you were looking for. You put everything back and said a brief, "Thank you." to the man and turned your back to walk away, your shoulders slumped.

"Usually something gets returned after a few days, you can always check again the next day." He said.

You straightened up and was surprised by what he said. He sounded nice and you thanked him again.

You took the words from the man to heart and have returned to the Lost and Found the next day and the next. It was on the fourth day that you finally found it. You were overjoyed and let out a small squeal when you saw it. The man, who you know now as Yoongi, smiled as if sharing your joy.

You opened the notebook and did a quick scan through. It feels like forever since you parted with it and wanted to make sure all your notes are still intact.

On the last page, you saw an unfamiliar handwriting. It reads:
