AN: I in no way own Naruto, I'm merely playing in Kishimoto's world for a bit. Also, for the sake of this story, Kisame will be 3 years younger, thanks!
----------------------------------------------
Kisame was walking through a village on Fire country's eastern border, a trade hub renowned for the staggering number of merchants that flocked to and from the town. He was on a B-rank mission, delivering a scroll to his contact. So far he hadn't needed to use the katana that was slung across his back.
The crowds could probably tell that he was someone not to be messed with, between the cloak, katana, and his trademark glower. They parted like a shoal of fish for him, making sure to stay out of his way. He caught some civilians making signs, warding off evil. That hurt, he had gotten used to it, he knew what he looked like, and he sure as hell didn't need to be reminded of it near constantly.
Kisame had grown so used to the crowd parting for him, that it came as a shock when something crashed into him. Reflexively his hand moved to the hilt of a katana, before it lowered slowly, realizing that the thing was in fact a young child, a little girl that was sniffling pitifully. Just a child, with a present but undeveloped chakra network, not a threat in the least.
"Hey tyke, you alright?" His voice was a tad softer than usual, the little girl was already crying softly, no need to make things worse. Kisame did a quick scan of her, this time assessing her as he would a comrade instead of a potential threat. Her hair was just as odd as his own, a shade of pink that used to belong solely on the flowers of springtime. She was lucky enough to not get stuck with an odd skin color though.
--------------------------------------------
Sakura looked up at the large man nearly hulking over her through tear filled eyes. She was fine, besides a slight ache from her unceremonious tumble, and her feelings.
"I'm fine mister, sorry for running in to you." She wiped the tears from her eyes, before getting to her feet. Sakura looked up at him, awestruck as she finally saw the coloring of the person she had run into. Now that she was looking she noted he didn't look much older than cousin Yuudai, and he had just turned fifteen.
"You have blue hair! And skin!" She exclaimed in awe that suited a child of five all too well. "That's so cool! Do people make fun of you for it? Is that why you're wearing that cloak?" If she had been older, more observant, she may have seen the flash of surprise upon his face.
The blue man smiled down at her, showing off razor sharp teeth, like little knives. Sakura couldn't help but think that it made him look even cooler, like a shark.
"Nah kiddo, once you get as big and strong as me no one'll ever make fun of you. It's one of the perks of being a ninja." A large hand descended and ruffled her pink locks for a fleeting moment before lifting away. "I've got to go now tyke." And with those words he left her.
Sakura's mind fixated on his words with childish determination. "I'm gonna be a ninja." She declared to herself quietly. If she was a ninja no one would make fun of her ever again. It would totally be worth it.
