It had been two days. Two days since Tiltpaw's death, since Bounceback's harassment, and Scatterstar still had not told anyone Highwings' secrets.

It puzzled Highwings to no end. And something else actually infuriated her too, in regard to the fact that, while she had poured her heart out to Scatterstar, the leader had not reciprocated it. And it was not even close to any dire, code-breaking stuff that Highwings had admitted to! She had simply been inquiring about Scatterstar's favoritism towards her, and the leader had shut her doors.

Highwings was tempted to up and confront the leader about it, but Scatterstar had already been generous by keeping all of Highwings' secrets private to herself. Highwings feared that, should she ask for any more than that, Scatterstar may decide that the warrior did not deserve the privacy she had so graciously been granted.

Now Highwings was hanging by Moorsprint and Nokit near the nursery. Bounceback was on the other side of camp, looking incredibly solemn as he hung out with Stoppedflow and Sunroar - although Sunroar did not at all look enthusiastic around him. Bounceback had not been allowed to come near her anymore, told so directly by the leader. And though Scatterstar had received heavy opposition, she had held firm and true to her order. Highwings was frustrated by Scatterstar's secrecy, but she could greatly appreciate her help.

Highwings managed to tear her eyes away from staring at Doublepelt as he was assisted by Nimblereach - for what, she did not know - and saw Moorsprint was doing something with Nokit. She was holding her paw in front of the little tom, and he kept on following it around in circles and complex movements. Under Moorsprint's body, around the sitting Highwings, the little silver, white-spotted kit darted. The black-and-white oriental she-cat watched in confusion.

"What're you doing?" she questioned the reddish-brown she-cat.

Moorsprint laughed. "You mean you've never noticed me leading him around before?" Highwings realized she really had been too focused on everything else going on lately to spend time in the nursery with Moorsprint, and shook her head. Moorsprint rolled her eyes. "I've been training his nose. Guess what? He can follow cats around with just their scent."

"That's impossible. Scent is too unreliable to do that. I mean, you can track where cats have gone, but you can't possibly follow them around that closely with no other senses." Highwings squinted at the little kit, who, now that Moorsprint was stationary, was rubbing his paws over the ground as though its uneven surface amused him.

"Well, I think his nose is stronger than regular cats'," Moorsprint reasoned. "I mean, he's using it to make up for both sound and sight. It must be stronger than Beargrowl's shoulders by now."

Highwings eyed the massive brown, dark-brown-striped tom guarding the camp. "Yeah huh, you really think so?"

Moorsprint seemed not to have heard her, because she was crouching down and playing around with Nokit again, poking her paw all around his body and making him laugh and squirm. She kept purring words to him that he could not hear, perhaps more for her own amusement than his. "Bet you can't wait to show that off to all the other kits in the nursery, don'tcha, buddy? Can't wait to show it off to your friend Giovannikit!"
