It was raining. Wade was walking back to his place, he knew everyone would be there when he got in. He groaned when he stepped into a puddle. "Fuck you." He said to the puddle. He carried on walking. Out of nowhere a cat jumped out and started scratching and biting at him "OW! STOP!" He yelled, the cat ran off. He clearly was having a bad day. But it was about to get a whole lot worse.
He thought his day had gotten better, it hadn't. He was almost back when he saw fire. He hated fire, his favourite place had been set on fire not too long ago. "No..." he whispered. "Allison..Wanda...Hatchet...P-Pepper!" He whimpered. His breathing got heavier. His eyes welled up with tears and suddenly he was running, he was running back to Allison, Wanda, Hatchet and Pepper. All of his friends.
Pepper was laughing at one of hatchet's jokes when Wade came into the apartment, sobbing and breathing heavily. "Woah, Wade..are you okay?" She asked, walking over to him. Wade shook his head. "F-fire-need to save-you- Allison- gonna die-.." he choked out. "Wade, take deep breaths...in and out...that's it...you're doing great.." she whispered to him. Wade let out a little whimper-sob and tugged at his hair. "No, no..Wade, honey...don't do that.." pepper said. She let out a little gasp when Wade flung himself into her embrace. She didn't mind. She rocked him like their mother would do to them when they were little. "Shh...you're safe..it's okay..." She soothed.
"Safe..?" He mumbled.
"That's right, Wade...you're safe.." she said, smiling.
"You really care 'bout him, don't ya?" Wanda said. "Of course I care about him! He's my baby brother..." Pepper replied, turning her attention back to the trembling boy in her arms. "Wade? Do you wanna go upstairs? Take a nap, maybe? It'll do you good.." to that, Wade shook his head. "I'll have nightmares! 'Bout mama...an' dad..and the fire..." He wailed.
Wanda came over to him. Pepper smiled at her and mouthed a quick "thank you".
"Wade? Wade, babyboy..you won't have nightmares...I promise.." she whispered, petting his hair. Wade flinched and then yawned, his eyelids fluttering. "You sleepy, buck?" His older sister cooed. Wade nodded. Pepper picked him up and carried him upstairs. She tucked him into bed and placed a fully platonic kiss on his forehead. "You've had a pretty nasty day, huh bud?" She said, softly. Wade nodded. Pepper combed a hand through his hair. "It's okay...you'll be okay...I'm right here..." she murmured. Wade closed his eyes. "Night, pep...love you.." he mumbled.
"Love you too, baby brother.."
That took so long! I don't know if this is canon, but I headcanon that Wade is the younger one out of him and pepper! And thus, this chapter was born :))
