"At best your people have spent the past thousand years playing Scrabble and Guess Who with the space orb."

I know they're watching me

I know they're watching me. Watching us. Every few hours, by my count, the cameras situated in all four corners of the greatly exaggerated cell zip an inch sideways. Probably from testing of equipment for maintenance purposes or to get a rise. Ether way... I don't move.

With a hiss of my cell door, I hear footsteps tapping against the cement floor I've been sitting on silently for days. Clenching my fists on either of my knees I lie in wait for a Disciple to touch me. To place a single hand on my arm or shoulder. One single, minuscule excuse to beat the fury burning through my veins out through blood. One tiny excuse to absolutely tear this place apart.

"Leave us" the voice of the First Disciple Ander's echoes around my large, silent cell. It's only when the door hisses shut that I hear him recognize "Octavia's memories showed you were stubborn. I don't believe I understood how much until now." Upon my continued silence, I listen to Ander's shift his weight behind me "We want to recruit you Avery Armelle. To fight the last war humanity will ever need to fight."

That sentence elicits a blunt chuckle from me, my hair has fallen over my face "I'm sure Western Europe thought that during the First Great War."

"Back then humanity was a naïve shell of itself" Ander's tries to sway me, his voice not wavering "With the Sheppard guiding us we have the power to become so much more." Ander must decide to ignore the small shake I give of my head when he requests "Join us, Avery. Help humanity transcend the bounds of this universe. Help the-"

"Help you bring around a war?" Now I find myself curiously looking to Ander's over my shoulder, my brow arched and poised to question "Who do you people think you are?"

Still maintaining his composure, Anders tilts his head thoughtfully "I don't believe you understand the stakes here Avery Armelle."

"And I don't believe you understand who you're messing with", I arch my back, rising up to my feet. "You've separated me from my friends, are refusing to let me travel back to my family, caged me in a cell, and gotten the love of my life killed", stalking towards Ander, I get right in his face with a murderous glare "You've cut me off from everyone I love." Ander's calm blue eyes flicker between mine, not appearing unnerved in the slightest when I threaten "That makes me the most dangerous thing on this planet."
