     "Who am I?"
I stood up from the cold ground, head dazed from... something. I couldn't remember anything, my recollection of things such as my name and age were evaporated from my mind like a puddle during a drought. I pulled myself up from the grass, checking my surroundings for any sort of clue as to what happened. There was still daylight, but the sun was low enough to barely poke through the dense autumn trees surrounding me. I turned around to meet a brick wall with a black metal gate. The wall was about three times my size, impossible to climb over in my current state. Just by looking at the sheer height, I could feel my muscles aching, and soon after I fell back to the ground, moaning in agony. What happened to me? Am I dead? I crawl over a little to look through the gate. A dilapidated mansion stood passed the walls, paper white curtains strewn about the windows and the gardens overflowed with life. No one lived there for sure, but it seemed eerily empty, like there was supposed to be someone living there.
Just as I felt like I saw someone through the window, I heard someone walking toward me, to which I quickly stood up and took a defensive position.
"Who are you?" I asked, trying not to show any weakness from my injuries. They wore a long black and white patterned cloak with shiny silver buttons. The leather shone in the dimming sunlight as the white trim around the bottom seemd to almost glow. As if on cue, the stranger removed his hood to reveal a cunning smile, like he has been waiting for this moment. His voice was almost as warring as his fashion choice.
"You have no purpose," he explained, his darkened yet empty purple eyes piercing right through me, "You have no emotion or feeling. Allow me-" He stopped for a moment to raise his hand as six black letters, each end and intersection in the symbol coming to a point, appeared in front of me. What a nice font choice... He continued. "-to give you purpose. To give you meaning." The letters circled around me, one by one. N, R, O, C, N, O... Then suddenly, they stopped right in front of me. An X appeared in between those letters, and only one thought came through my mind.
My new name. Noxcron.
