Azlan's eyes widened when she turned to see Mary-Anne. Mary-Anne's eyes trailed down Azlan's body, taking in every bit of her dress.
"Wow", she gasped.
"You look... really good."

Azlan blushed a crimson colour as she tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear, revealing her sparkly hearing aids.

Mary-Anne smiled when she saw them.
"I love your hearing aids."

"Thanks.
Quinn helped me customise them", said Azlan.

Mary-Anne nodded.
"Do you want to dance?"

Azlan's eyes lit up and she nodded her head enthusiastically.
"I'd love too!"

Mary-Anne wrapped her arms around Azlan's waist, pulling the pink haired girl closer.

The music didn't bother too much, aside from the fact that the upbeat songs were too loud, due to her having her hearing aids on.

This song was nice, slow and at a volume that was just right.

"You look beautiful, by the way", said a shy Azlan.

Mary-Anne smiled.
"Thank you.
Hey, listen.
I owe you an apology."

"For what?"

"For not hearing you", said Mary-Anne.
"I mean, I listened, but I didn't hear what you were saying."

Azlan shrugged.
"It's in the past now.
We can move on from that.
If anything, it'll make us stronger."

In that moment, Azlan noticed Mary-Anne loosen her grip on her waist, pulling away ever so slightly.

"What's wrong?", questioned Azlan.

Mary-Anne sighed.
"I... I'm not trying to get back together with you."

Azlan's face fell and she stopped swaying to the music.
"Y-you're not?"

Mary-Anne shook her head.

Azlan pulled away, letting her arms drop to her side, like body guards. "What's all this then?
You learn sign language, you ask me to dance-"

"-As friends", interjected Mary-Anne.

Azlan scoffed, her face turning red with embarrassment now.

Mary-Anne frowned.
"Azzy, I had a lot of time to think after our break up.
I was ready to put the effort and time into learning more about Usher's Syndrome.
Maybe we're just too young."

"Hold on, you're pinning this on age now?"

"No!
Look, who I am now isn't the right person for who you are now.
We rushed into this and you know it."
