It was Christmas break, the air brushed against my exposed skin leading to my bright red nose and ears. As I made my way across campus, luggage in tow, I thought of what would happen when I arrived home. It's been a year since I've seen my parents and I know they will be overjoyed to have me in their arms again. However much I wanted to be happy to go home, I couldn't. During my first year in college, Spencer Reid became a fixture in my life. He was a genius, of course, whizzing through his homework and acing tests. I became best friends with him, from sunday night study sessions to eating lunch with him nearly everyday, we did everything together. Leaving him, if even for only 3 weeks, was painful. I haven't even left campus and I already missed his dorky smile, his long winded rants, his awkward hand motions, and all the other little things I loved about him. Yeah, that's right, love, Spencer doesn't know i'm love with him but I hid it well. My psychology and profiling classes paid off.

As I neared my car, I pulled out my phone, a message from Spence illuminating the screen. Lips instantly turned upward, all tension lost from my eyebrows as I read his text.

Spence: miss you already! You better enjoy your christmas break, don't waste your time missing me :)

Me: You know I will and I miss you already too! Enjoy your break!!

I spared one more glance at my screen before slipping my phone in my pocket, enjoying the warmth my pocket provided for my frozen fingers. Cracking the car door open, I let the snow fall down, grabbing the umbrella to try and push the snow off the windshield. Throwing my bags in the trunk I finally took refuge from the freezing cold and blasted the heat in my old car. Starting her up I back my way out of the parking lot, glancing once more at all the bustling students, joyfully saying goodbye to their friends.

TIME SKIP

After a long car ride in poor conditions I finally pulled into my house's driveway. Taking a minute to collect myself and relax I feel the nostalgia kicking in already. So many old memories were held in this home and being emotional as I am, I couldn't help but reminisce a bit. Eventually, I decide it's time to greet them. Grabbing the luggage out of the back and treading my way up the icy steps I knock on the door. First, Y/M's face appears, looking just as she did last year, a warm smile plastered on her face as she excitedly opens the door and hugs me. Dad comes next giving me a side hug and heading back to the TV, not very warm as usual.

"Y/N you're here!!! I've missed you so much, I'm just finishing up dinner, why don't you throw your suitcase upstairs and come back down" mom suggests

"Will do, It's nice to see you both again! It's a miracle I made it here the roads are a mess"

Y/M chuckles "You never did like driving"

Giving her a cheeky smile I haul my luggage up the stairs, leaving it in my old room. Not before noticing that my parents hadn't redecorated or changed my room much at all. Entering the kitchen, the smells of Christmas dinner hitting me full force. Smiling at the memories of past christmases, I hed back to my mom.

"So, what can I help with!"

TIME SKIP 6:00pm

"And that's the last of it" I clap my hands together and look down at the glorious dinner laid out. A traditional christmas dinner with turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, baked vegetables, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes. By this time everyone was here, aunts, uncles, a few cousins, even my grandparents who I rarely get to see. Smiling as I make my way to the kitchen, and take out plates and silverware to pass out.
