chapter one - perfect

The small and broken town of west wood was all Julia had known in the twenty one years she had spent there. It was a quiet town, surrounded by trees and forests. The skies were often grey and mocking, acting as a curtain protecting the sun that rarely ever graced west wood with its presence.

The people here were no different, almost always frowning and constantly on edge. They were unwelcoming and treated new comers with pure hostility, and despite the fact that Julia had been living in west wood her entire life she had always felt like an outsider.

Julia was an orphan, with her younger eleven year old sister; who her mother had died giving birth to. However the death of Julia's mother affected her father tremendously and he had ended up committing suicide two years after. Julia had never thought too much of her father's death, because in a way she knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, she had expected it. And when it did happen she did not doubt her fathers love for her or her sister - Angel. Julia was only twelve when her father passed but he didn't leave without making sure she was in good hands. He had left Julia and Angel with their grandma, a weak and fragile woman who passed seven years after she had taken the two girls into her wing. But at the time Julia was nineteen and so her grandma passed peacefully and with no worry regarding her two grand daughters.

Julia's family, her mother especially was very well known in the small town; for she would often invite the townspeople to her house and would treat everyone in such a manner that made her very loved. Julia loved her mother a lot and the thirteen years she had spent with her were full of nothing but good memories that one could only look back on but never touch again. But Julia was happy, she was happy with her younger sister and the strange little world the both of them had created for themselves in the shelter of their small two-bedroom apartment.

Both, Julia and Angel Lytton shared the same features; long, pitch black hair that they had inherited from their mother, and light brown eyes that were were rimmed with thick, long lashes.

Even though both girls shared the same striking features, they were polar opposites when it came to personality. Angel, being only eight was loud, outgoing, and just knew how to make everyone fall in love with her cute little self - much like her mother. Julia, on the other hand was more like her father, quiet, artsy and a complete book worm. However she had obtained a few traits from her mother, who had taught her to voice her opinions and to be confident with them.

Julia's life was as perfect as perfect could get, she had a home to rest in, a sister to keep her company, a job to keep her financially stable and food to keep them from starving. And yet it felt incomplete, sometimes she would miss her parents and sometimes, she would sit for hours and think about unknown things and unknown feelings that seemed to make her expect more than she was given. She was living in an endless cycle of misery and happiness and it often overwhelmed her how the two emotions could change from to another or even mould themselves together so mercilessly.

Angel would go to school on the weekdays from eight forty-five up until three thirty, and during these eight hours Julia would would be busy working at a small coffee shop that was in the centre of west wood. The small shop was called Roma's, a completely bizarre name for a coffee shop but it had been named after the late wife of the owner; Rob. Rob was an old and decaying man, in his late early sixties but Julia had grown to love the elderly man like a father.

On the weekends though, the girls would spend their time in the park or in their apartment, talking and laughing. Julia had always wished she could do more for her sister, but there really was no where other than this beat up town they could go to.

▪️this chapter is probably really boring but i felt like i had to give you an insight to their life before anything else.✌️👽▪️
