The sun suddenly beams through the car window and Jenna is forced to shut her eyes tightly. She releases a small sigh and turns towards her mother. Her short black hair whipping around, as the wind enters from the open window. Her mother looks at Jenna and gives her a gentle smile. Jenna gives her mother a weak smile in return and rests her head on the window. She watches at the trees whip past them. Each individual tree is a green blur.
It's all a blur.~~~~~
About 7 months ago Jenna's father disappeared. He told her mother that he would be back in a week.
"It's just a work trip," he explained to them.
He should've come home in the 12th of March, but he never did. On March 18th Jenna's mom finally decided to get the police involved. Sadly, they were no help what so ever, and Jenna's father remained missing. On March 22nd, Jenna returned home from a long day of school and found a black envelope sitting in front of the door. Jenna took the envelope inside and tore it open. Inside the envelope what a piece of paper. The paper had a yellow tint to it, and it curled up at the corners. When Jenna opened the paper she instantly recognized her fathers handwriting.
Jenna,
If you're reading this, it means something terrible has happened. I will not be home for a very very long time. I love you so much baby girl. Live your life to the fullest.
Love you!
-DadLater that evening, when her mother returned home from work, Jenna was found crying in the living room. Her mother was terrified at the sight of her daughter like this. Jenna explained the note to her mother, and handed her the paper. What Jenna didn't notice at the bottom of the paper was a tiny symbol. Her mother noticed it right away and remained calm, like her husband hadn't just gone missing. The symbol was made up of a triangle with a line down the middle, and a circle on the inside. Jenna had no idea what this meant, and didn't think anything of it at first, but her curiosity intensified the longer her dad stayed away.
Jenna tried speaking with her mother, but every time the topic was brought up her mother would turn away from her and change the subject.

When Jenna awoke, the car was parked.
"Thought it might be a good idea to order some pizza." Her mother said. "Just so we don't have to make a big mess in the new house."
Jenna replied with a weak smile and watched her mother slowly get out of the car, and into the pizza place. Time went on, slower than before, and Jenna watched the people walking around outside the car. A small woman with two young children, a large man with an even larger pizza, and a older lady with a pack of cigarettes. Each person had the same dull expression Jenna had. When her mother returned with the pizza, Jenna thanked her for dinner and remained quiet for the rest of the ride home.
The new house is much smaller than their old house. This house only has one floor, and the other had three. The outside of the house is painted a pastel blue and has white borders. The roof looks fairly new, but the front door is missing a glass pane and the door handle is busted.
"Don't worry." Her mom said, after noticing Jenna's reaction to the house. "I'll go get a new door tomorrow."
Jenna turned towards her mom and replied, "It's great mom."
Her mother beamed at her and pulled her into a tight hug. Jenna grabbed on tightly to the pizza box and journeyed into the house. The porch creaked with every step she took, and when she reaches for the door handle it fell to the ground with a loud thump. Jenna jumped at the sound of the handle hitting the ground and her mother ran over to help her.
"Sorry," she said to her mother.
"Not a big deal, J. We needed a new one anyways."
