Rekindling

The Flight to India was mostly quiet, neither Charlotte nor Dominic wanted to address what was discovered back at Bly, so rather than discuss it they simply decided to reminisce about their first trip to India. However the discovery that Charlotte had been cheating on him and that Flora wasn't really his daughter was still fresh in Dominic's mind so he wasn't thinking straight. On the other hand Charlotte was filled with guilt and it made it difficult for the two to reminisce.

The two finally arrived in India, and Dominic made his way to pick up the luggage as he tried to clear his mind so that he could enjoy his vacation. Charlotte on the other hand, felt as though she could never free herself from the guilt of almost destroying her family. On the way to the hotel the two stopped for dinner and a nice conversation about what they wanted to do in India, however neither of them could bring themselves to talk about everything that happened back at Bly.

Once they arrived at the hotel and made their way to their room the Charlotte made the decision to address everything that had happened, and hearing that her affair had been happening for years angered Dominic more and he decided to leave the room to calm down. It was almost midnight and as he walked around the surrounding area he took a moment to think about everything, he realized that he was no longer angry, just deeply hurt that the only women he had ever loved could go behind his back and destroy their family and he thought it would be best they went their separate ways. Charlotte went looking for Dominic, she searched the surrounding streets but could not seem to find him. She then wandered down a road with a single working street light, it was then that she saw the silhouette of a man, thinking it was Dominic she called out his name and the man looked over and started to walk towards her. She was too far and couldn't make out if it was Dominic or not so she slowly walked closer. She was about 12 feet away when she realized the man wasn't Dominic and that he was carrying a gun, so she began to turn and run. As she was running Dominic was tuning the corner, they collided giving the man time to catch up. Dominic looked up and saw the man standing over them asking for money, but the two left their room without anything. Charlotte and Dominic slowly stood up facing the man Dominic explained that they didn't have anything and they slowly started to back away. Angered, the man aimed the gun at Charlotte and pulled the trigger. Dominic jumped in front of Charlotte to shield her then fell to the floor. Charlotte screamed out and began to cry asking why, he turned to her and replied with his last breath,"I wanted to protect the women I fell in Love with. Silence filled the street as Charlotte sobbed next to Dominic, a second shot was fired breaking the silence. The next day the British Consulate made a phone call to Dominic's brother Henry and delivered the grim news, but were not able to go into details on the incident because they were still investigating the scene.
