[A] Change of Heart | Demon Brothers

This wasn't a request from anyone, I just felt like making it. Apologies for any errors.

Summary: The demon brothers have changed and you start to hate being Lilith's descendent.

The exchange plan was easy. You come to devildom, stay and manage the troublesome brothers for a year, complete your tasks and return to the human world. You were surprised by the amount of hatred demons had for humans but you had expected it. You were slowly growing used to the glares you got at RAD. Nevertheless, you carried out your tasks under the supervision of Lucifer.

You still regret opening the attic. You couldn't forget what happened around its walls, his hands on your neck, choking you till you approached death. Though it wasn't that you died that you regret opening the attic, its what happened after.

As soon as you stepped alive in the House of Lamentation with your fake dead body in Mammon's arms, all the brothers cornered you and made sure you were okay, everyone except Belphegor. He seemed annoyed that you were somehow alive again.

This was still fine, you reassured yourself. You knew they were demons and they would possess demonic tendencies so you let yourself believe that he had killed you because he was plagued with this thought. 

But you definitely did not expect that you would be Lilith's descendent. You were caught in a state of shock, knowing that you were somehow related to the demon brothers although you were a human. This news hit Belphegor the most.

After Lord Diavolo and Barbatos left, it was as if the brothers changed sides. Lucifer only contacted you either for work purposes or to ask about his brothers' whereabouts, Mammon had usually cursed at you and Lucifer for taking care of a human like you, Levi had been ashamed to meet you around his brothers because of you being a normie, Satan showed no particular interest in you, Asmodeus wasn't very touchy and you needn't even talk about Belphegor. Beel, you felt, was the only genuine brother in the family.

Now, all the brothers were at your service. Belphegor apologized to you and suddenly became sweet, which was highly unlikely of him. Asmodeus and Satan suddenly want to spend more time with you. Mammon is arguing with his brothers to not to get too close to you, Levi is finally talking to you without being on his phone and Lucifer started warming up to you. 

They were pampering you to no extent but you knew this wasn't like them. It had gotten to a point where they never left your side, even you wanted to be in private. You did want to talk to Lucifer about this, but let the thought slip away. 

You had enough when you were eavesdropping one day and found that the brothers intend to keep you here with them and not to take you to the human world. You were beyond angry. You knew they were using you as a replacement for Lilith for you haven't seen any creature in your life to have a change of heart so suddenly. 

You stormed in, ignoring the stares the brothers gave you and confronted Lucifer.

"How could you all plan something without my consent?" You tried to remain calm, but anger was pouring through your veins.

"It was just a suggestion, we haven't confirmed this decision yet. Not to mention you are intruding." Lucifer spoke. His expression was unreadable.

"You think I'm intruding? Please, you haven't even noticed your brothers. I haven't gotten a good sleep since a month due to your brothers constantly barging into my room just so they could cuddle me. They've become too clingy these days and I'm not even comfortable in my own room because someone or the other will barge in! I wasn't able to understand why you all were suddenly treating me nicely because I clearly remember you all claiming that you don't want to be around this trashy human, but I think I have found the answer. You're doing this because I'm Lilith's descendent... aren't you?"

By now, tears had threatened to fall from your eyes and the brothers looked at you guiltily. The room remained silent for a while as you choked on your sobs. Lucifer was the first one to speak.

"They care about you."

Had he just told a joke? Because you were laughing. You regained your composure and spoke.

"Please. Don't even assume that. You should all do a self review. When I had just arrived, you all were the least bothered about this lowly human. You all kept degrading me, saying humans are weak and not even the strongest human would be an ant in comparison to a demon. After you found out that I am Lilith's descendent, somehow your hate towards me vanished! It was still okay that you were hating me, at least you were showing me your true feelings about me. But now you all seem so fake."

Tears poured from your face and you tried to wipe them away. Lucifer's face showed that of pure concern. He wanted to tell you that wasn't true at all and that you were genuinely cared for, but even he knew that wasn't all true.

"I will go to the human world after this exchange program, whether you like it or not." 

You left and headed to your room, leaving the tension of guilt hanging in the air. You were tired of this fake niceness. Never had you felt so useless before. You had lost your own identity by replacing someone else. You knew it was hard, but you had some sense of respect in you to get exploited by someone just for their satisfaction. You had learnt to put yourself first whenever you felt your self respect losing and it was one of these situations. 

And you knew exactly what it would it take for you to gain your self respect back.
