Author's note: Yes I am aware that I just disappeared for over a month. This chapter is also really short. I have an outline for this story, but wrote myself into a corner. Apologies! The next chapters are going to a bit different, not in writing style but in the plot. There's going to be a few years time skip, and we're going to introduce someone new. Also, I'm pretty sure I made Phil's last name Za in either this story or the sequel. I'm not going to 'ret-con' it, or whatever it's called, so you just have to deal with it.

Adopting Techno didn't suddenly make everything perfect. Phil still had a-possibly traumatized?-kid on his hands. Phil wasn't ready for this. Then again, who was ready to raise a child? Nobody, that's who. Phil was willing to admit, though, that there were many people who were more prepared.
Phil was determined to do this right. He went to the library, and got all the books on parenting he could. Sure, Techno's situation was quite a bit different from the usual one. There had to be a few things that translated over.
All the paperwork he had to do. Registering as Techno's legal guardian was somehow so much harder than he had anticipated. He managed though, somehow. Pure determination and the unwillingness to let Techno be alone anymore, most likely.
Another thing Phil did was call his mom. She'd known that he had applied for a foster license. She had also known about Techno, how often they met, and how concerned Phil was for him. Phil's mother was a bit worried about him, but was honestly more excited to meet her grandson.
Techno didn't show much emotion, but Phil had seen a page of paper covered in the words 'Technoblade Za'. The first ones were choppy and unnatural, but by the end of the paper the name sat smoothly, as if Techno had been writing it his whole life.
