━━ foe of all evil & savior of humanity
LAURA ARCHANGHEL UNDERSTOOD PERFECTLY WHY BOYS WERE NOT WELCOMED TO THEMYSCIRA. The laws didn't need justification, but if they ever did, the explanation could be boiled down to three simple words: Boys. Are. Trouble.
And Gotham's very own Boy Wonder? He was the trouble trifecta, all wrapped up in a red-and-yellow costume.
All smug grins and quick hands, darting in and out of the dark with an arrogance she found exasperating. He was as bold and slippery as a gust of wind that refused to be caught, the kind of troublemaker Hermes himself would have gladly claimed as a son.
Laura was raised by immortal warriors, and honed by Queen Hippolyta since she first came to the island. She'd been trained to stare into the eye of a storm and not flinch. But Robin? Robin was a whirlwind, his words racing and tumbling out like a sudden summer storm, filling the space with his chatter, prodding her with each chuckle, each witty jibe as if he'd been born with a manual titled "How to Annoy Laura Archanghel in 10 Easy Steps."
Now, here they were— expected to work together, of all things.
Of course, she'd known that stepping into the world of men as Wonder Woman's protégé wouldn't be smooth sailing. Back home, each girl had her purpose, like stones in a river, shifting together, seamless and sure. But here? She was surrounded by kids who fought like they were playing some high-stakes game, flinging themselves into danger as if they'd be back to try again tomorrow. Friends, they called each other, as if friendship was something you could cook up like a quick meal.
And this team thing? It was messy— like oil mixed with water, or thunderclouds trying to settle over calm seas.
It wasn't that Laura disliked them. Far from it. She respected them as much as she could anyone so... loud. But trust? Trust would take more than a few missions and greasy pizza. And he—Robin—he felt like a special kind of trial from the gods, a pop quiz for her patience as if they were watching to see if her temper would crack.
