Luke's 5th and 6th period were pretty average that day. Nothing new really, he just did a lot of messing around and texting Ellie. But things started to get interesting in 7th hour. Luke walked into room 402 and made his way up to the room that he usually hung out in with his friends, "practicing" a play he wasn't even in. Before he went into the room, he was informed by Mrs. Booty, the yearbook teacher, that they would be having a intruder drill during that class today.
"What time will the drill start?" Beatrice asked.
"Around 3:00." Mrs. Booty answered.
"You know it's gonna be like, pitch black in here right?" Luke told his friends when he got into the little room they were in.
"I know right, especially because we'll be up here." Rachelle added.
So until 3:00, they just talked about the most random of things and waited for the intruder drill.
At exactly 3, the alarm went of on the intercom. Mrs. Booty then commended to turn off the lights and lock the door. As Luke had guessed, the entire room was super dark. He couldn't even see his hand in front of his face!
"Who's touching me?!" Beju screamed.
"Sorry, that was just my hand." laughed Rachelle.
"Beju, you are really jumpy." Said Carli.
"It's just super dark and scary in here!" Beju answered.
Luke decided it would be funny if he snuck up on her, but in the process he tripped over Bethany and fell on top of Beju, who screamed louder than before. The rest of the group just laughed and teased Beju for the what time of the drill was left. When the lights turned back on, Mrs. Booty made her way up to the room where the group was at.
"Hey guys, we really need to be quite during intruder drills. We could hear you guys yelling and screaming from all the way where we were." she said.
"Yes m'am." Carli answered.
"But it was Luke who was doing all of the screaming!" Beatrice jokes.
"Pffft, oh sure. Sorry Mrs. Booty, it was all me." Luke said making a face at Beatrice.
"Alright guys, thanks for listening." Mrs. Booty said as she left the room.
"We really need to start being more quiet." Carli said to the group. "I don't want to get in trouble."
"It'll be fine." Rachelle said assuringly. "She wasn't even mad, I mean, the kids she was next to were being louder than us."
"I know, but still, I don't want to get in trouble." Carli said.
"Carli, if we did get in trouble for being loud, which we won't, Ill just take the blame for it like it did today." Luke said glaring at Beatrice.
"What?!" Beatrice said laughing.
Then all of a sudden, the period bell rang for the last time of the day.
"Yes! Thank goodness school is done!" Luke exclaimed very happily.
The group walked down and out of the room and eventually out of the school.
"I'll see you guys later!" Luke said as he approached his bus.
He got onto the big, yellow bus and sat next to Samuel. Luke was ready to go home.
