Chapter 1

When I was chosen to be a Starlit, I had no idea I was going to almost die. I am the queen bee, the royalty. But I had to fight to get the title, everything of me to get the name, Queen Kim. Now I realize it wasn't worth it, that I gave up everything for a title, and that any kind of book, tv show, anything, can never match the depths of reality.

My thoughts are interrupted.

"Queen Kim, would you like some tea?"

"No thank you." I reply calmly to my butler.

Bowing, he steps out of the room and walks away.

I take out my paper again and start to scribble my thoughts out, letting my mind race while my pen dances over the silky paper. I never wanted to talk about my journey to the crown, so instead I decide to write it down.

Kim Shubu, age 17 was a happy, calm, quite girl. That was, until she was called to come to training camp to be a Starlit. She experienced very rough days, and finally when a lot of things happened, she won!! Yay!

It could use more detail, but for now it would do.

"Finding words can be hard, but once you find the right ones, you only need a few."

I think of my mom's thoughtful words.

Oh mom. Black hair, green eyes, everything I needed.

I think of her words, something clicks, and all I need are ten words.

July 13, 2265

White thin particles cover the ground.

ASH. My first word that I need to use. Thin, white ash lines the streets of Armistia.

Zero, the world's largest volcano, has just erupted. About 1, 000, 000 people have just died. Millions more packed underground in a very uncomfortable position, waiting to come up and see the horror of their country, destroyed and perished. The first to come up was John Shubu, an excellent writer and publisher. Second, is Dianne Frayke, a single, beautiful young woman. John stands still as a rock taking in the scene, while Dianna is emotional and runs to John, crying and hugging eachother, complete strangers.

Buildings lay in ruins, people stand in shock.

But the ash, it quitely shifts and swirls, and it is beautiful. Each flake is a ballet dancer, a small quite, dressed in white and graceful ballet dancer.

People watch the ash in awe.

Torn, once dazzling people who were well fed and well clothed.

" Mum! Dad! "

" Susan! "

" Molly!!! Bryan!!! "

Screams ring out for loved ones.

John walks over to Dianne who is with her devastated family.

" Hello, my name's John Shubu, I do believe that this young woman here came up second, right after me. A news reporter from Sedonia has asked that the first lady to come up from the below headquarters to have an interview."

"Of course." Answers Dianne. Her long black hair flows with breeze.

A short, rather nerdy man walks up to the two, holding nothing but a thin piece of metal. He presses a button, expanding the metal to reveal a glowing screen.

"So, what was it like to come up from the, the um, the under ground, just to see that your homeland has been destroyed. And knowing that you are the first people to take in this information?" He asks.

"Um, well, I wasn't really thinking about the fact that I was the first up, I was just mesmerized by the ash and the ruins of our country." Answers John.
