you fight but can't sleep without each other

With an ache in your heart, you rolled over in bed until you were laying on Sydney's side. You rested your head on her pillow and breathed in her smell that lingered. The bed feels cold without her beside you.

Though you both originally thought some space for the night would do you both well, you're regretting agreeing to it and locking her out for the night. You unlocked the door though, just in case she chose to come back inside the bedroom. However, the knob hasn't moved and you have yet to hear her feet on the floor.

You closed your eyes and tried to sleep, but it was useless when she wasn't there with you to hold you tight and keep you warm.

You sat up and rubbed your eyes. They felt heavy, almost impossible to keep open any longer. But you knew you wouldn't be able to sleep unless she was there with you.

She was only across the hall. You swung your legs over the bed, planning to just open the door and see if the door to the room she was in was opened or closed, and to see if she was asleep or if she was as lonely as you felt.

Your sock-covered feet patted across the floor until you reached the door. You put your hand on the knob and turned it. Only, when it opened, you saw Sydney leaning against the wall across from you.

She lifted her head at the sound of the door opening. Her eyes looked quite sad and there was a frown on her lips.

You stared at each other for a moment, neither of you saying a word. But she stood on her feet a moment later and stood in front of you.

"I'm sor,"

Before she could even finish the word, you were throwing your arms around her neck. You breathed out a sigh of relief when she wrapped you in her arms and you felt the security and warmth you've been missing.

"I'm sorry too."

"Can I come to bed?" She asked, smiling a little when you chuckled sadly.

"I'd like that."

She let you go, but only until you were in the comfort of your bed a moment later. She was putting her arms back around you, her cheek falling to your shoulder and her lips brushing against the back of your neck.

"I love you. I'm sorry."

"Same here." You mumbled, already falling asleep and fast now that you were in her embrace again. "We'll talk more in the morning. Have sweet dreams until then."

"You too, y/n." She spoke softly and let her eyes close. "Goodnight, baby."
