CHAPTER 1
I wake up to my alarm clock screaming in my ear. I get up smiling at the day that may just beginning. I turn my TV on and blast out to music and wake my best friend, Cassie, up from her bed.
"CASSIE!! WAKE UP!!!! IT'S TODAY!!" I scream in her ear. She throws her pillow right at my face and I feel all of my hair go from one side to the other. I laugh and hit her with it continuously.
"OKAY! Fine. I'm coming!" she finally says. I jump up and down and hop over to my dresser. I take out my favourite blue booty shorts. I run over to my closet and sling out my favourite red crop top. I take out a cute sparkly undershirt. I first slide on my blue striped bathing suit and then my shorts. The crop top hangs a little over my belly button. I just leave it without putting my undershirt on. Besides, we are going to the beach. I grab my makeup and is down on my bed. I get my mirror and quickly do my makeup. I walk down stairs into my 2nd part bedroom and sling out a beach bag from our coat closet that we never use. We use it for bags instead. We live in Florida. There is no need for it. Aha. Me and Cassie share a bedroom. Our bedroom is a little complicated. We use our attic as our bedroom that we sleep in. Stairs leads up to the attic. We put air conditioning up there and flooring. So it's like another bedroom of the house. It even has ACTUAL walls. Downstairs in our room is our
bathroom, small kitchen (microwave and a tiny refrigerator), living room, and small library.
"Cassie?! Are you ready?" I scream up the stairs as I pack sun lotion, sun screen, our sundresses, phone chargers, drinks, a sandwich, makeup, a brush, our hats, two T-shirts and two pair of shorts.
"Yea!! I'm coming!!" she walks down the stairs, turning off the light from up stairs. I grab the bag and slip my blue pumps into the beach bag as well as Cassie's. I slide on my sandals and she does the same.I grab my purse from the hook on my door and my phone from the charger in the wall and We walk out of our bedroom door and down the upstairs hallway. We walk down the larger flight of stairs that leads to the dining room. My mom sits and reads the papers in her robe with coffee in her hand and Dad sits on the couch watching the morning football pre game.
"Bye Mrs. And Mr. Jacks!" Cassie yells.
"For the last time, Cassie, We are jeff and Marlin." my dad says. My mom nods, adjusting her glasses, but never taking her eyes off the paper.
We both grab a water from the refrigerator and walk out the door with a slight wave. We get into my new Chevy I got for my 18th birthday last month. I throw our bags in the back seat and put my keys into the little slot. I hear the engine roar and drive out of the garage. We both ride over there listening to our usual One Direction and pull into our friend, Whitney's, house.
"Alrighty!!! LET'S PARTY SAM!!" Cassie screams. we both get out an I grab my purse as she does the same and I reach back there to grab the beach bag. We run through her yard and into her house without even knocking. She is our best friend. We don't need to knock.
"Hey!" Cassie yells throughout the house. Whitney's lives alone. We are little 18 year olds and she is 22 but she acts our age. She has a boyfriend but she has her own HUGE
house that she lives in alone unless we are spending the night there. She said that we are welcome to move in there at any time but we are still deciding if we should or not.
Whitney answers back with a silly, "HOW ARE YOU MY LOVE?" in an idly really good but fake British accent.
"Great!" Cassie and I answer at the same time. After a few minutes of setting up for the party, a few other friends barge in, but it's boys!!!!
"Hey pretty ladies!!" Max screams. They all carry 3 bags of groceries each and slam them on the table.
"Yay! I can make the sandwiches! Thanks, babe!" Whitney remarks to her boyfriend, Max. He nods at her and kisses her softly across her mouth.
"Hey, Darlin'" Jake says pulling me in his arms. He hugs me tight and lays a soft kiss on my forehead.
Jesse, Cassie's boyfriend, just picks her up and flings her around in circles. She squeals but as he puts her down she turns around and he lays a sweet and passionate kiss on her lips. I find their relationship sweet, but at our age it needs to slow down. He is already talking about marriage. It scares her but I know guys. And if they don't get what they want, I'll have my best friend crying in our bedroom floor like last time. It's. Not. Fun.
After everyone piles in, it's about 6:00. Us girls have been surfing but it's getting dark out.
"GET OUT THE GLOW STICKS!!!" Jake tells from his surfboard beside mine.
"I'll be back." he says. I lay on my back on the surfboard, feeling the waves hit my surfboard and water slides on the top and soon disappears back into the sea. A big wave begins to appear but I just ride it.
Soon, Jake comes back with about 10 glow sticks and no surfboard. He hands me a few glow sticks and I put a few around my neck and some on my wrists and ankles. it's pretty deep where we are so he can't touch. He is having trouble keeping himself up do I gradually slide off and let him get on. He lays on his back but pats his tones abs. I climb up there with him and he kisses me passionately and let's go. I lay my head on his chest since I'm way shorter than him, and we play footsies. He starts to mumble stuff but I don't understand a thing.
"Sam?" he asks.
I mumble to make sure he knows I'm
Listening. "I love you but," he stops and then plays with one of his hands and lays the other on my back. "I'm bored out of my mind." I giggle at him and slide off motioning we can leave. He slides off also and we float the bored back up to shore. A lot of people are inside but more are in the water. It's really dark and all I can see out there is neon colours and glow in the dark ends of surfboards. I hear a scream from the water. A high pitched scream. Not Cassie's. Not Whitney's. I'm
Not quite sure who's it is. But it was familiar. Good thing Max is a life guard. I stand up quick and squeeze Jake's hand. He looks at me weird but hears the second scream. He runs out there but I tug on his arms. Soon, a weird noise passes through my ears. Not a scream or a loud voice. But....a gun shot.
