~Rose~
I walk out, and I see that Tyler is in the kitchen area, looking at what we have here. It consists of a stainless steel refrigerator, microwave in between some light brown cabinets, and a countertop that matches. There's no table because what's the point when you have your office, or you don't eat here.
"There's not much to eat; it's just some snacks and takeout menus. But if you want some suggestions on what's good around here, let me know," I say, walking up to Tyler.
"Thanks, I might. Are you ready for the tour?" he asked.
"Yes, but shouldn't I be asking you that? Anyway, there are a couple of things that I should mention. One, some people might still be a little mad that you didn't show up to the last big meeting the other day. But before you say anything, I smoothed it over, so try not to say anything about it. And a side note, what about a barbecue on Friday? To meet everyone and so it can be kid-friendly and-"
Tyler cuts me off by laughing. "A barbecue? Really? Oh, that's a good one," he says.
"Okay, Imma be blunt," I start. "I don't know what you know about the people here, but we like each other, and we like having company gatherings that aren't formal. Some people don't, but they still go. And since I was the one who went to the meeting and I was the one who had to fill in for you, you owe me this. Plus, it would be a great first impression to the people you didn't piss off."
With that, he looked like a dog with its tail between his legs. I walk over to the main elevator and push the down button. " Look, I know what you said about not wanting to take over your father's company, but this is an excellent way to start. And if you don't, that's on you. I'm trying to making this easier."
"Okay fine, but where are we going to have it? And when are you not blunt?" Tyler asks me when we both enter the elevator.
"Um, well, I wasn't sure if I'd get this far, but we'll think of something. If not, we can always ask your mom, who, by the way, helped plan almost every event. I'm not always blunt, sarcastic, yes, but not blunt, and I'm surprised that you're not firing me after the way I talk to you."
"It's quite refreshing, to be honest," he said. "So, where are we starting first?
"Well, I thought that we would go meet with Marie and then figure it out from there. Don't have a plan, figured I would wing it."
Walking out of the elevator, I see that most people are on their floors or out at a meeting.
Going over to Marie, I introduce Tyler and her properly. We stay there for about ten minutes, going over what she does and how she helps out with everyone. Next, we move floor by floor even though it did take most of the morning, but knowing that Tyler has to meet with the heads of departments after what happened the other day, it was worth it in the end.
Heading back up to our offices, I check the time, and it was a little after one.
"So I don't know what you want to do, but we could order lunch and go over what a "normal" day is and what my job entails," I say, stepping out of the elevator.
"Yeah, that sounds good. Do you want to do take out or go somewhere?" Tyler asked while standing in front of me.
I involuntarily take a step back, not wanting to be this close. "Um, it's up to you. I could get the take out menus, or I know this dinner that my friend and I frequently eat."
"The dinner sounds good. What's it called?"
"Danny's."
