Alexis groaned out loud, embarrassed beyond belief. She could feel Mike pacing back and forth as she sat on the bed with her hands on her face. "I told you to get off me."

"We didn't do anything wrong. We were just messing around."

"Which is fine when it's you and me - in my apartment or in the office - where your children can't walk in!" Alexis hissed, glaring at him. "God only knows what she thinks right now."

Mike shrugged his shoulders as he kept pacing. "She's thirteen, what could she possibly think?"

"Well she's half you, and I'm certain the sky was the limit in terms of what you thought of regarding boys and girls at thirteen.......so God only knows what she thinks!" Alexis cried, groaning again as she flopped backwards on the bed. "And don't act like you aren't concerned, because you're pacing and you only pace when you're nervous."

"I'm going to ignore the fact that you insinuated that I was less than pure at thirteen and reiterate that we were not doing anything more than playing around," Mike said, halting his pacing as he stared at her. "We're friends, Miller. We pick at each other. Just because we're adults doesn't mean we aren't allowed to have fun."

Mike looked over at Alexis and considered the situation at hand, feeling a particular memory rushing through his mind for some reason.

Mike had just laid a thirteen month old Ara down for her nap while eight year old Mira claimed that she wanted to practice her piano for a while. As he entered his own bedroom, a vase zoomed past him and hit the wall, missing him by a few inches.

Mike's eyes widened as he stared at his wife who didn't look even a little bit remorseful about throwing the vase at his head. "What the hell, woman?"

"I saw the way you hugged Miller today," Delphina screeched as she glared at her husband.

"Are you out of your mind?" Mike screamed right back at her. "She's my friend, I'm allowed to hug her! You don't see Hailey losing it like a banshee because Garrett hugged Miller. Did you honestly throw a vase at me for that? What if it had hit me?"

"Alexis was Garrett's foster sister! Obviously, Hailey has nothing to worry about!" Delphina retorted, ignoring his comments on the vase almost hitting him.

Mike huffed aloud and said, "You need to get over this unnecessary jealousy regarding Miller. It's really unhealthy, Delphina."

"Don't pretend like I don't know why you had chosen me as your bride," Delphina changed the topic abruptly, choosing not to acknowledge her irrational jealousy at the moment.

Mike narrowed his eyes at her and said, "Not this again."

"Black curls, brown eyes - out of all the girls your father had presented you with, you chose me......cause I look like her the most!"

"Delphina, we've been over this before," Mike started, dragging a tired hand across his face. "I do not have any unrequited feelings for Miller. I did not choose you because you have a few similar features with her. Okay? I'm tired of repeating this."

"Say whatever you want to, but I know that sometimes when you're looking at the girls, you almost wish they were Alexis's and not mine. I know you do," Delphina whispered.

"Are you crazy?" Mike snapped, throwing his hands up in the air. "I'm married to you! We have two children together! What more do you want from me to make you believe that I do not care about Alexis Miller in that way! Hell, she's also married! Stop looking for excuses to start a fight."

Mike shook his head at the memory and looked over at Alexis. "Enough, stop this. I repeat, we're friends and we weren't doing anything wrong. You need to calm down, okay?"

Sighing, Alexis laid down on the bed again before she felt Mike's hands grab hers, gently pulling her upright. "Mike, I just -"

"It's not a big deal," Mike said. "Come on, we need to go downstairs."

Alexis nodded, still not looking directly at him.

"And stop blushing as if I saw you naked."

Scoffing, she shoved her hands into his chest and rolled her eyes, heading towards the door. "Trust me - you'll never get that lucky."

Mike laughed, shutting the door behind him as he followed. "If only you knew how many other girls at school and college had thought differently."

"You're positively foul," Alexis replied as she descended the staircase, Mike hot on her heels.

"If by foul you mean charming, then yes, I'm positively charming."

"Sure sure," Alexis replied, rolling her eyes. "In your dreams Watson, in your dreams."
