Chapter 74

ShyAnne's POV

*One Week Later*

This has been one of the worst weeks. Eliza still will not calm down no matter what I do for her and Andy has to step in. It's gotten to the point where I've stopped trying to do anything for her. I'll spend time with her and try to bond, but as soon as she starts crying, I pass her off to Andy. I've gotten maybe a total of five hours of sleep this entire week and I can't stop crying. The smallest thing sets me off for way too long. I'm also eating maybe once a day, that one meal being enough to fill me up for the day. Elijah also has had no improvement, which makes my mental state even worse.

We got to the hospital and got out of the car. Andy and I have been going to the hospital everyday to see Elijah, leaving Eliza at home with his parents. My parents are still in town and come over everyday to spend time with Eliza. They said they don't want to go home until Elijah is released.

We walked down to the NICU and my heart stopped when I saw nurses and Elijah's doctor surrounding Elijah's bassinet.

"Elijah." I cried out quietly, Andy wrapping his arm around me. His doctor walked out of the NICU and smiled when he saw us. 

"Mr. and Mrs. Biersack, good morning."

"What's wrong with my baby?"

"We actually have good news. We are starting the weaning process today."

"Really?"

"Yes, if all goes well, he should be home by the end of the week."

"That's amazing!" I exclaimed. 

"Can we go see him?" Andy asked.

"Of course, but you are still unable to hold him."

"Understood." I said as we approached the NICU doors. We put on our gear and walked in, sitting on either side of his bassinet.

"You're so close to coming home. Keep getting better." I said to him, grabbing his little hand through the hole in the bassinet. 

"You're so strong little man, I believe in you." Andy said, grabbing his other hand. We sat with him for a while before heading back home. We walked into the house and Andy's mom smiled at us from the couch.

"How's the little guy?" She asked.

"His doctor said they're starting the weaning process. He'll be home by the end of the week!" I exclaimed.

"He might, assuming all goes well." Andy added.

"Well that's great. He needs to come home so I can hold him and love him." She laughed.
