chapter 15

"Yo! My main squeeze! Hyuck my boy!" I sauntered into his room full of swag. Which is what I thought, but I really just made a fool of myself. Something that I tend to do quite a lot.

I cringed at myself once I saw Donghyucks disgusted face. I rubbed the back of my neck and let out a small laugh. "Before you say anything, I know. That was horribly cringy."

"Please never do that again." He laughed and shook his head, "What are you doing here?"

"Wow it's nice to see you too." I rolled my eyes and sat down next to him, grabbing the controller out of his hand.

"Hey! I had almost beaten that level!" He yelled out, trying to grab the controller away from me. "Well now you don't have to, because I beat it for you." I grinned gesturing towards the flat screen on the wall.

He sighed and shook his head. "Oh yeah! Look!" I exclaimed realizing I had just gotten my cast off. I completely forgot about it as I made my way here.

He gasped dramatically, "I don't have to carry you around anymore! Finally!" I shoved him playfully, "I don't remember you carrying me at all."

"To be honest idk if I did or not, I probably didn't." He shrugged and laughed, "wait, really though why did you come to my room? It's like 12:00 right now."

"I don't know, didn't feel like going to sleep. I know Eunjin is supposed to be talking to Taeyong right now."

"I have an idea." He smirked mischievously. "I'm listening" I grinned. "Let's go ease drop on their conversation!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door, quietly making his way to Taeyongs office.

"What if we get caught?" I whispered, scared of being 'grounded' after just getting my cast taken off. "We won't." He stated confidently. "If we do, you are taking all the blame." I said crossing my arms over my chest. "Don't be such a baby. It's not like we will get caught anyways."

I scoffed, "You have too much confidence sometimes." H smirked proudly, "It's because I'm Lee Donghyuck." I rolled my eyes following along the boy. I knew this was a horrible idea, but as we arrived in front of Taeyongs door, I immediately placed my ear against it just as Donghyuck did.

"Can you hear anything?" He whispered, staring at me. I shook my head in response, "Is Taeyongs walls soundproof like the meeting and training rooms?" I asked. It would make sense after all, Taeyong wouldn't want anyone to overhear important conversations regarding the gang and missions. "Probably." He shrugged, putting his ear back against the door.

The door handle started to rattle, making the two of us look at each other in shock. Before I could utter a word hyuck had took off running and was already half way up the stairs. I cursed under my breath. quickly hiding behind the nearest corner as the door opened. Taeyong and Eunjin were now standing outside the door, I was trying to make out what they were saying when someone tapped me on the shoulder.

I immediately slapped a hand over my mouth to keep in my scream, turning around to glare at the boy, my other hand being over my erratically beating heart. "What the hell Jaehyun?!" I hissed, making sure not to raise my voice. He was about to speak when I put a finger over my mouth signally him to be quiet. "What are you doing?" He whispered, raising an eyebrow at me.

I had no idea what to say. I couldn't just tell him that I had been ease dropping on our leader. "Uh-h nothing?" It came out more like a question than a statement. He looked at me suspiciously. "What are you doing Jae?" I questioned him, trying to get the conversation away from me. "Taeyong called me down to show Eunjin to her room." He shrugged, making his way over to the two.

I was about to make my way back upstairs to kill Haechan when my name was called. I sheepishly turned around, looking at the trio standing in front of the leaders office. "Yes?" Jaehyun put a hand over his mouth, stifling a laugh. I glared at the boy, before turning my attention back to the leader. "What are you doing up? Could you not sleep again?" He asked, observing my figure.

My cheeks reddened, "uh, I-I.." Before I could finish my sentence I was cut off, "Wait, what do you mean, again?" Jaehyun looked at the two of us suspiciously, eyebrow raised. Eunjin was just silently standing there, looking at us all, confusion written on her face. "Nothing." Taeyong stated firmly, "Take Eunjin to her room Jaehyun." The boy gave one last look at us before leading Eunjin away and up the stairs. I was about to follow behind the two when my name was called once again. "Areum, come with me."

I silently followed the leader into his office, head hung low in shame. I was about to speak up and say that it was all Donghyucks fault thinking that he has figured out what we had been trying to do earlier. "Sit down. You can help me with some paper work again, since you can't sleep." I say there in shock, but reframed myself from showing anything and just nodded my head. I scooted my chair closer to his desk, now sitting directly across from the boy.

We worked in silence for a few hours, surprisingly getting quite a lot done. Without noticing, my head started to drop, eyes drooping closed. "You should go get some rest." I raised my head up at the voice, looking at the boy who was staring absentmindedly at the clock. 4:00 a.m. I shook my head in protest, "Not until you do as well." He sighed about to protest, but stopped when I began working on the paperwork in front of me again.

What I didn't notice was the small smile that pulled on his lips as he stared at me adoringly. I glanced up looking at the boy, who was already looking at me. "Alright, let's go to bed." He gave me a small smile and lead the way out the door. As we were walking to my room I stopped, "Um, do you think Mark is awake?" I asked, looking down at my feet.

The boy looked at me, a strange expression making its way onto his face. "Mark? Probably not, he was practicing a lot after the party for an upcoming mission." I just nodded my head at his words, silently dragging my feet towards my room. I was scared to fall asleep again, so I wanted to talk to Mark a bit to ease my mind. "Why, is something bothering you? You can always ask me Areum, I'm here for you." He placed his hand on my shoulder, looking at me with an unexplainable expression on his face.

I looked up at the boy, my heart beating erratically. It felt like my heart would burst out of my chest at any moment as I gazed into the eyes of the boy in front of me. His chocolate orbs, looking deeply into mine. "I-" I stuttered over my words, not knowing what to say. I was taken aback as he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. The tears I didn't know I was holding in, surfaced making my vision blurry. "Taeyong.." I whispered, my voice shaky. "Shh, it's okay. I know." He tightened his arms around me and for once I felt safe. I felt relieved. It felt like all my problems had just melted away all at once, just from a simple hug.
