-Narrator POV-

"How's it going?" Dr. Yang asked the team of surgeons working on Harry.

"Good start so far," Dr. Shepherd responds in a low voice, narrowing his focus on Harry's spinal cord.

"What can I say for an update?" Dr. Avery questioned, anxious to return back to Louis.

"The procedure so far is going well. He lost a lot of blood, but we were quickly able to give him a transfusion. We won't know the state of paralysis until he wakes up, but everything is going good so far," Dr. Shepherd informed Dr. Avery, eyes never leaving the operating table.

Louis' POV

"The surgery is going well. They still have about twelve hours left, but so far everything is looking really good," Dr. Avery entered the room, standing at the edge of my bed.

"Is he going to be able to walk?" I asked, tears welling in my eyes. Liam grabbed my hand, giving it a squeeze.

"We won't know until he wakes up," He responded, holding a neutral expression.

No one said anything. Dr. Avery slowly walked out of the room, shutting the door to give us privacy.

"How are you feeling?" Liam asked, in regards to my transplant.

"Sick. Not because of the surgery, I'm fucking freaked about Harry right now," The tears spilled out of my eyes and onto my cheeks.

"We need to be strong for him now," Niall announces, face a mess from crying.

I motioned for them to join my in my small hospital bed. Liam and Niall joined me, lying on either side of me.

---

"Louis! Oh my god wake up!" Niall gently shook me awake, I felt my heart stop for a moment.

He can't be dead. He has to be alive. I can't go on without him.

"Is-"

"He pulled through. He made it through the surgery!" Niall rushed out, causing me to exhale in relief.

"Ca-"

"He hasn't woken up yet, we don't know if he can walk or not. Dr. Shepherd said it went really well though, and there is a chance he might be able to," Liam interrupted.

"I need to be with him," I declared, jamming my finger on the nurse button attached to my bed.

Almost immediately nurses came rushing in, when they realized nothing was physically wrong with me they gave me very dirty looks.

"You are only supposed to press that button if there is an emergency," One of the nurses sassed me.

"It is. I need to be taken to see Harry. He just got out of surgery" I state matter-of-factly.

"That does not constitute an emergency," The nurse claps back, anger building in my chest.

"Hey Louis, everything okay?" Dr. Lexi Grey, one of Harry's doctor's interns entered the room, giving the nurses confused looks as they left my room.

"Hi, no. Those nurses won't take me to Harry," I sigh in frustration.

"Oh, that's no problem. I'll take you to him now," She says, disengaging the brakes on my bed and beginning to wheel me out of the room, Niall and Liam walk behind.

Since it is the middle of the night and Lexi moved quick, no one bothered us. When we arrived to Harry's room, My heart fluttered at the sight of him. His long hair was pushed out of his face, oxygen tube rested in his nose, peaceful expression on his face. Lexi positioned my bed flush against Harry's, giving me a knowing smile. I thanked her with a nod, and she exited the room.

"He is going to be hurting pretty bad when he wakes up, it's really good that you're here with him," Dr. Shepherd announced as he entered the room after a moment, reading Harry's chart.
