"kirari, why are you avoiding me?"

she had finally gained enough courage to ask her.

it was a rare moment that sayaka was not with kirari, and so she plucked up her courage to do so.

those blue eyes landed on her, cold and icy.

"I don't know what you mean, y/n."

"you do, kirari! you've been ignoring me, and only been paying attention to sayaka! don't play the fool." she hissed.

"I'm not obliged to pay attention to you, am I?"

"but we are together, you accepted my confession."

kirari paused for a moment, her eyes glinting a brighter blue. her lips turned up into that smile y/n was so familiar with.

but this time she couldn't smile back. no, she couldn't.

"we were never together from the start, were we? I never said so, it was only what you believed. I didn't accept your confession, I only acknowledged it. you were a little annoying at times, but I have to admit, no one was ever like you, but I'm afraid you were only another pawn to me. another pawn in this little game of mine."

those words were like knives to her heart, stabbing it mercilessly.

so she meant nothing to her from the start.

nothing at all.

she dropped to her knees, tears beginning to fall from her eyes as kirari left the room.

that was when she remembered what kirari had said when she took that dandelion from her.

"it reminds me of you."

y/n thought of it as praise at the time, but now she finally got it.

because she forgot, she was just like the plant she had picked out for kirari. a dandelion — not a flower, but just a mere weed. only used for admiration, before getting rid of soon afterward.
