She looked at her brother with equal nervous energy. They were both emitting it in waves. Of course, they both knew that because of the bond they had. They've had it since they were old enough to talk but probably before that as well since they were both able to calm each other down after a tantrum.
Katelyn Lily Potter and Harry James Potter were not normal per se. They were the only two people - babies none the less - to survive the killing curse from the Dark Lord, Voldermort, himself.
They've been famous ever since. Their parents Lily and James Potter tried to keep them away from it as long as they could but now that they were attending their old school, Hogwarts; School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, they couldn't do anything about it now.
Katelyn had hazel eyes like their father and reddish-blonde hair. Unlike her brother who had jet-black hair that was a mop on his head with emerald eyes like their mother. No one knew why Katelyn had blonde hair and not red or black but it didn't bother them much.
Katelyn and Harry grew up in the muggle world with the occasional magic that their father performed before they went to sleep. This was all new and shocking for them. Now standing in Kings Cross Station and staring at the wall between platforms 9 and 10 they didn't know whether their parents were joking with them or just crazy.
"You want us to what?!" Katelyn blanched as she turned her hazel eyes on her mother and father.
Her mother smiled softly. She set one hand on Katelyn's shoulder and the other on her trolly a few inches from Katelyn's. "I'll go with you, ok?" her voice was soft and encouraging.
"Fine, but if I get squished like a pancake I'm blaming you two," the eleven-year-old said. Her parents laughed along with Harry. Her mother averted Katelyn's attention back to the wall. They got a running headstart. Katelyn felt a tug behind her navel and then they were in another train station with a long train with the words Hogwarts Express printed in white on the black paint coat.
"Merlin's beard" Katelyn whispered in amazement as she looked around to see hundreds of kids and adults.
Her mother grinned as a feeling of warmth and recurrence washed over her, "it's amazing isn't it?"
Katelyn could only nod as they slowly walked through the large crowd. She could hear Harry and her father behind them. Katelyn looked up at her mother, "recognize anyone?"
Her mother's face contorted into her concentration face as she scanned the crowd, "no dear. It is a large crowd. No mind that though, this is your day sweetheart"
Katelyn nodded once again. The many bodies in the train station resulted in her lightheadedness and her body heating up in her black hoodie and jeans. Her trolly was taken by a busboy along with Harry's. The two stood side-by-side as they stared at their parents. Katelyn launched herself in her fathers while Harry did the same to their mother.
"We'll see you both at Christmas, don't worry, you'll be fine" James soothed as he kissed her forehead.
Katelyn nodded. Harry gripped her hand and she squeezed it in return. He was never good with separation. Their parents smiled at them. "Go on," their mother said as tears pricked her eyes, "go"
Katelyn and Harry got on the train and found an empty compartment. They looked out the window at their parents and waved as the train started to move. They waved back and blew kisses at them. Katelyn pulled her head back in and took out her wand.
It was a 12" made out of black walnut wood with a phoenix feather core. Harry had gotten an 11" long, holly wood wand with a phoenix feather core.
A red-headed, blue eyed boy knocked on the compartment door, breaking the silence that had engulfed the Potter twins. They looked up as Katelyn put her wand away. "Mind if I stay?" came his squeaky voice, "all the other compartments are full"
The twins shrugged. He sat down next to Harry. His eyes widened, "bloody hell! You two are Katelyn and Harry Potter!" he said with amazement and shock evident in his tone.
Harry nodded, "yeah" he showed him his scar. "What's your name red?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry, I'm Ron. Ron Weasley" he stuck out his hand for the two of them to shake. Katelyn shook it first then Harry. The two boys engaged in a conversation while Katelyn leaned back in her seat closing her eyes.
A bit later someone knocks on the door and they all turn to see a lady with a trolly full of sweets. "Anything from the trolly dears?" she asked. Her voice was kind.
Ron held up a squished sandwich wrapped in a bag that made Katelyn feel queasy. "I'm set," he said with a longing tone as he stared at the candy.
Harry glanced at Katelyn. Upon seeing her approving nod Harry held out ten golden coins, "we'll take the lot" he told the lady.
Once the candy was unceremoniously everywhere the three dug in. Ron told them what a lot of the candy was since they haven't seen anything other than muggle food. Katelyn and Harry were amazed by how good it tasted. It put muggle candy to shame.
Katelyn squealed when she saw a rat on Ron's lap, "what is that?!" she pointed to it.
Harry and Ron turned their attention to the rat that had his head stuffed in a jelly bean box. "This is my pet Scabbers. Pathetic isn't he?" Ron replied.
"Just a bit" the two muttered.
"Fred gave me a spell to turn him yellow, want to see?" he asked.
Harry and Katelyn had earlier learned that Ron had six other siblings. Five older brothers and one younger sister. Bill is the oldest, then Charlie, then Percy, then Fred and George who were twins, himself Ron, and Ginny who was a year younger and would be attending Hogwarts next year.
Harry nodded eagerly. Ron took out his wand which was a piece of wood that seemed to be just that. He cleared his throat and opened his mouth but a girl about their age stood in the doorway looking annoyed.
She had bushy brown hair and brown eyes. She sighed, "have any of you seen a toad? A boy named Neville has lost his." They shook their heads. She saw Ron's wand out, "oh! Are you going to do some magic? Let's see then" she plopped down next to Katelyn.
Ron cleared his throat once again and swished his wand, "sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, Turn this stupid, fat rat yellow." There were small sparks as the jelly bean box flew off Scabber's head but he did not turn yellow. Ron looked at Katelyn and Harry as all three shrugged.
"That's the spell? Well it's not very good is it?" She shook her head as she looked at Harry and Katelyn. She gasped, "Jiminy crickets! You're Katelyn and Harry Potter!" The two nodded. "I am Hermione Granger...and you are?" she looked at Ron.
"Ronald, Ronald Weasley" he stated proudly with a mouth full of food.
Katelyn and Hermione's face contorted into disgust as he chewed openly. "Pleasure" drawled Hermione before getting up and standing by the door. "You've got dirt on your nose...just there," she said as she rubbed a spot on her nose. Ron did and shot her a glare. She then skipped off down the corridor.
